It's not an RTS.
I've played all of them civ games, and I loved them all. They're especially good if you're a history buff. I had an orgasm last time I played world map as the greeks and took over the world.

Although tom clancy games require much more strategy than the average FPS, I still think you would classify it as an FPS. Strategy based FPS.
RTS = starcraft, warcraft 3, etc.

Not to mention ONLY playable turn based strategy game for PC in a long time.

But isn't the Civ game like RTS? (i must be thinking of age of empires)

age of empires is an RTS...REAL TIME strategy game, CIV IV is a turn based game.

Started playing Civ 1 on my first pc
. You could actually download it somewhere :s (nvm).
the Civ games, oh and I actually prefer TBS > RTS. I like the fact that I can take a break, think about it, then come back to the game and make a decision ^_^.

CIV4: 7th hghest rated PC game EVER on gamespot.com, surpassed only by epic games such as Diablo, Unreal Tournament, WOW, and command and conquer red alert. To add to that, 2nd best PC game ever made according to IGN:
http://pc.ign.com/articles/772/772285p2.html
VIDEO REVIEW:
http://www.gamespot.com/video/919352/61 ... deo-review
SCREENSHOTS:
The game is extremely tedious if you're wanting to play a very in depth experience: micro managing productions, harvests, populations, finance, diplomacy, etc.
However, it's also flexible enough to just pick what units you want to get built, pick where you want your settlers to found cities, and which units for your armies to attack. But, you won't get far on higher difficulties or truly enjoy the CIV experience playing in that fashion.
