start wit those arm floats so u can float while u'r attempting to use ur arms and legs. then if u feel comfortable, take them off at the shallow end, and swim a few meters.

start going to swimming pool? i mean there is few points where u can even stand in water, u could always practice there until u can hold ur breath and position without touchning the ground... and than move on to a deeper water :p

the best way to learn how to swim is to learn not to drown
just go in the water and start moving your arms and legs like a jellyfish or a running dog, those ussually work fine

force your self to swim, i threw myself in a swimming pool that was too deep for me and forced myself to swim, or else i'd die.

When I was younger, around 3-4 years old, I used to wrap my arms around my neck back and stick to his back. He would dive underwater and swim until I couldn't hold my breath anymore. I learned to dive and hold my breath years before I could swim; I would have to do it in shallow waters so I could stand up. The swimming just came naturally.
I think the trick to it is to be near water, go in the water, and get comfortable with the water.

I can tread water for hours on end.
I don't know how to do it, it's just natural. But, i'm good with controlling my breathing; I've often fallen asleep floating on my back before.
The trick I guess, is to not exhale all at once, you need to keep your lungs rather full to add to your buoyancy.

I'll teach you how to right now.
Go into some shallow water, and start moving your arms around in little circles, and lift your legs off of the ground, and kind of kick them slightly... Making sure not to hit the ground.
Congratulations, you are "swimming".
I learnt when I was 3. I used to swim every day when I was like 11.

Throw someone on a somewhat fast river. Tell them to swim...or die horribly.
I've taught 3 of my cousins how to swim already.

One of them didn't think I was serious...only when the river started to turn and I sat down and turned on my iPod did they react.
Works like a lighter.

Poor things. You evil creature.
And yea btw. I got my first notions of swimming in a similar way. But it wasn't a
river lol. It was a lake
Big difference, as far as I can tell

Swim 1 feet out.Go back to shallow waters...and then next 2 feet, and go back. And just keep doing that. It's what I did!
