What's with the poke Ball's

I just watched this video of pokemon

And now im wondering what does happen inside those poke Balls?
Cause all that heppen's is they go in and they summon them ever wonder what happen's in there?

hum I think a pokemon is in a coma / sleep-like state in the ball >_> that they're not aware about time and space there, lol.
then again nothing
really happens in that ball because it's just a cartoon and why even speculate about this? lol
