MSN 8.1?! Isnt there a way to keep 7.5?

Yeah well apparently Gaysoft..I mean microsoft is making me update my msn to 8.1 but I dont want to. First because it lags me,second because I dont like the interface.
Is there a way to keep 7.5 and not to update to 8.1? I read that the only solution is to use MSN 7 but I dunno about that.

Its not msn anymore, its windows live. Second time they have changed the name now, still dont see what was wrong with windows messenger.
Anywho, i have no idea, i think you can still use windows messenger 4.7 if you really dont want to get the newest one.

maybe he means its lagging his computer, not the internet? Out of the 49 processes i currently have running it is using the most ram and is second on cpu usage.
I assumed he meant computer lag when i read that since i dont believe it is sending or recieving anymore packets than the older versions would have been

Yeah same here..Msn is 2nd/3rd in my process list. There is no way I'll run SRO with MSN now.

I tried that already.
It will download but when I install it and try to sign in it asks me to update to 8.1.

There is a reason why they are asking you to upgrade. There is quite a large security flaw in 7.5, allowing people to gain control of your computer.

I had 7.5 too, but last Wednesday they forced me to update or else I wouldn't be able to sign in. -.-
The new version has a lot of junk on it, but it's not really THAT bad.
Sometimes I get signed out without any reason, gotta sign back in and it's quite annoying. :\
The offline messaging thing is rather handy though. :3

I'm kinda confused, I still have 7.5 lol, and never been asked to upgrade.
Why the hell would you run MSN while playing SRO anyways? Get Xfire!
Even if MSN upgraded, they can only make improvements, except the memory usage, and the solution for that is to get more RAM.

I use xfire.
But I have friends that don't have xfire,simply because they dont call their selfs "gamers"
Anyways,it looks like I will have to stay with 8.1 now. I tried reinstalling 7.5 about 5 times but it still won't let me sign in.

wow, i didnt really notice any difference when i upgraded. Just looked a bit more shiny, but then all i do is talk, i dont use any other features that come with it. I dont even have a display picture.

Try 8.5, and get Msg+ with resource reducer, it compresses the process every X seconds so it doesn't lag you so much
