Media player problem

Post by pjigglenuts »

Hi all.

Whenever I try to play an mp3 file in windows media player 11, or even winamp or yahoo music jukebox, I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

The files are on my hard drive, I'm using Windows Vista home premium, the files are not being used anywhere else(anywhere visible that is, because I've tried opening it right after I've started the computer), and I've run virus and antispyware scans right after. What could be the problem? This happens to every file I try to play, new, old, just downloaded, just ripped.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have correct privileges on the system to allow you to access the files?
