There's a corporation here that got sold, all the workers were jobless. The first thing the lodge asked its' members was if they were okay for christmas, and if they would need help to take care of their families until new jobs were found.

Well, with every big change there's always a group of people who say it's going to end life as they know it. They're going to make it sound so horrible and wrong that people will start believing them. The problem is, a vast majority of these people don't sit down and find the facts. As of yet there still isn't any proof of this happening other than some rumors and reports based on rumors. If and that's a massive IF this happens, I highly doubt that these countries will be unified in a way that we need a new constitution. America will still be America, Mexico will still be Mexico, and Canada will still be Canada. The same way it is in the UK.

Which is good for hard workers. A liberal economic system is only beneficial to those that do not depend on federal aid. With what happened in Volkswagen in Mexico, a union much like the EU would be beneficial for Canada's and the United States' economy, unless you're an uneducated worker working on the factory floor. Mexico would become much poorer, and it's cheap population would immigrate.

Environmentalists should be happy. Less fossil fuels would be burned because the transportation of goods would be reduced.

However, Canadians would never agree to this or join the union. The anglophones in Canada have no identity. They realize they're American clones. In fear, they refuse to do anything "american-like". I don't know how many people i've seen bad mouth the US, say that they're trying to take over the world, etc. Then go home and watch american idol. Canada right now is going through that 13-16 year old phase, where you do not want to identify yourself with your parents, you protest on any grounds.

Globalization has already happened in our past. One quick example, the Roman Empire. Although it did not cover the entire globe, it did cover the entire world as they knew it. Until the Mongols and Christianity, the empire was perfect. Pax Romana was the most peaceful time the world has ever known. Not to mention the economy, the arts, and science progressed. The citizens of rome did not have to work for the empire was so wealthy, and back at the turn of the millenium Rome had running water. It wasn't until the 1950s, two thousand years later, that all of Rome would have the same luxury.

the world doesn't work like that. Just because you put 2 groups of ppl under one unified flag doesn't mean they'll get along. Ever heard of civil wars or even the shit thats still happening in Israel/Palestine. The goal of globalization will not be to unify for peace, it'll be used to cause mass oppression with no opposition. A Global economy will only make it easier for the wealthy to stay in control of the circulation of money. These aren't crack pot theories either you can look at history and find tons of examples of empires who spanned into the territory of other nation bringing them under one rule by slaughter and deceit. Unlike South America or Asia, the world is not dependant on Africa. You could sink the continent and nothing would happen to the world's economy. It would actually create an influx of cash into government coffers. Less money being sent over seas.
