Alrighty. let see how many replies I can get before I'm moved to offtopic.

I'm in Canada...
So school is starting and I am in need of a laptop for educational, video and gaming purpose.

So I am wondering if anyone would help me look/find a laptop under these guidelines? (remember these are just guidelines)

My price range is around $1100

Mini requirements
- least 2G of ram
- core 2 dual of 2.0GHz (with a nice speed)
- a individual graphic card (Geforce graphic card 8600 perferred)
- good wireless connection

brand does not matter much, I have been searching over 3 days long.. yet i cannot find any that satisfy my tastes..
this will be my first time owning a laptop too...

Here's one

http://www.velocitymicro.com/category.php?cid=3

it's $1500

but meets your specs i think
Core2Duo 2.4g
8600GT 512mb
120gb hdd
8x DVD +/-R with Dual Layer
1gb ram

the laptop is a little big but it meets the specs

i wanted to recommend the macbook pro
but it cost $2000 and the specs are slightly lower than the one above
(it looks better, is much more portable, and run os x (also dual boots xp) tho ^^)

You truly know nothing about computers. You dont deserve my help. Do not get a laptop for a gaming device. It really isnt worth it at all.

U totally missed my point, again.

ONLY COMPUTER NOOBS BUY PACKAGE DEAL COMPUTERS!

Gosh

Get someone to custom build it for you. Much cheaper, much better. Even better if you can do it yourself, but by the look of things you cant. That is why im choosing not to help you. Go to your local handy man at Harvey Norman and he will pimp you out well. Remember you MUST listen to w/e he sais. If he sais its good then it MUST be good.

sux we can't custom build laptops ourself  (very impracticle atm, no laptop parts readily available online or at the store) , only way to sorta custom build a laptop is through a dam reseller

& he wants a laptop, not a desktop , so u totally missed his point b4 even shooting off ur gun :P

If you know what you are doing, or like me have a best mate who has ready parts to laptop computer parts, you can do it. It may be harder, but it is possible. GG

Im on my laptop all the time, have been since start of '06 playing SRO. No problems ever.

I have a Dell latitude D510. Preety standard.

No, the battery diddnt explode.

But you dont need a top line desktop for SRO.

imo anyways.

my laptop has an amd turion x2 TL52 processor.. basically just an amd turion
dual core with 64 bit capability. for the rest i run a nvidia geforce go 7600 with
256mb dedicated memory. everything runs smooth, as long as i have either
the shadows or the bloom effect turned off.

I got a sister of this one, but the same vid card. Dosnt have any problems running sro. But im playing with my normal PC and my laptop runs a stall 24/7. Cost less energie :)

but dont buy a laptop for gaming, for that money you got a much much bether computer.

As for your laptop, just say you're a girl. There's bound to be a few buttwipes who will jump to help like flies to shit.

So...? Do you care?

You want to HELP him or not? If youre going to help him dont b*tch and whine, just help.

If youre not going to help him GTFO.

You do NOT own this thread. He's asking for help, he made the thread.

And so what if he's a pc nub? you care?

Anyway, is nothing wrong with package deal laptops. Works fine. Maybe not as good price / quality proportion as a custom built one, but hey, no worries to get all the spare parts, just buy and use it.

If he knew how to build a custom laptop, do you think he'd be in here asking the rest of us for advice on a good laptop to buy? So if he knew how to do it himself, then you'd help him? Then he wouldn't need the help.
