[Long story]

The problem is i hate iTunes actually...i don't want that apple crap on my PC its annoying BUT there is a song that i want. If you watch Scrubs you'll know about Ted's band "the Worthless Peons". This band is actually a real band called The Blanks and they've released a CD featuring most of the covers they did on the show EXCEPT for 1...that cover they didn't release was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" idc what you think of the song they did a great acapella cover to it. They finally released the song BUT they did it in iTunes format only >_< id on't want to have to download a whole player just to listen to 1 song SOOOO...does anybody know a way to convert iTunes to Mp3 or wma without having to burn them onto a CD then convert the selection using the iTunes player...mostly because i don't have CD's and i don't want to download the player in the first place.....help appreciated

[Short Story]

I need a way to convert iTunes music files to Mp3 or WMA without having the download the player or burn the songs anybody know a program?

Problem is, every song you download from the iTunes store, is secured. You'll have a hard time converting it.

some albums now can be bought without it. usually old stuff though. There are lots of converters out there but all most of them do is play back the song (not out loud) and record it to a new file as it is being played, so its pretty slow :\

itunes format is m4a if i remember correctly. Look for an m4a converter on google. There are lots but most of them arnt free. OR you can get a program like http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and record it manually while its playing, lol.

EDIT: wait, you dont actually have itunes? then by itunes format you probably mean .aac?

All you have to do is select the song, then on edit or something (one of the top menu things) it'll say "convert selection to mp3".

Sorry if I'm just being ignorant, but other than the fact that the file is protected from pirating, I can't see why this wouldn't work.

If you're savvy with Audacity, I think you can convert it with the MP3 add on their site provides. But whether Audacity will be able to open an iTunes format song, I dunno. If it can though, you should be able to just "export project as .mp3" and you'll be set.
