I just mass units. My friend likes to drop reavers and mass at the same time though. He's better than me. It all depends on who you're playing against and what you're using.

Zerg strategy:
Start with 5 creep colonies as soon as you can. Place them near the enteries to your base. Build groud attacking defensive structures out of them. Later on, consider building some spore colonies. This way, you are immune to rush. Raise an army of Hydralisk, Guardians and Devourers, to break the enemy base. Always keep overlords at hand, to detect hidden units. Research overlord speed as soon as possible.
Another option for zerg is the zergling + hydralisk rush against protoss (god I hate that)

Terran strategy:
Siege tanks are the base here, both offensively and defensively. Build bunkers, fill with marines, and place siege tanks behind. Turrets and Goliaths for anti-air defense. For the assault, Siege tanks, 2-3 Battlecruisers, and the nuke :D

Zerg strategy:
FIrst i nake a spawn pool and make as many miners as can when i reach 300$ i build 1 hatchery i keep building hatcheries until i get 6 hatcheries. In betweenn buildding the hatcheries i build 2 refineries. And make 2 ling's. That's right just 2. AFter that i mAke teh hydra den thingy and make 6 lurkers. i upgrade the Overlord speed and drop .i put 6 spread out lurkes at front of base (for prtection) with over lord over them. Then i make about 50-60 hydras 3-5 defilers 20-30 mutalisk .

first i send mutalisk to distract the miners . Then i storm teh front with Ultralisk while using samdstorm (or whatever defiler is named it). After that rap it all up with dropping the 6 lurkers on main Hatchery (cc or nexus ) And then send in all of teh lings left to finish the job :0

This start workks... belive me...

That will get your ass kicked from here to WC.

Protoss:
Early expansion, stationary defence, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, own you with casters and infantry. (No, details, don't want to write a page)

Zerg:
Defilers asap and rush, almost no expansion.

Taerran:
Speed to vulture, spider your ass, wait for SV Wraith BC and air raid, med expansion.

Like I said. Me and Shadow are the masters. 8)

I'm the guerrilla-warfare type. My games are always drawn out for more than an hour. Never less.
And none of that Fastest Map Possible bullshit. Only possible strategy in that map is "mass hydras, mass carriers, mass (insert unit here)". The whole map is freaking bullshit. And on top of that, people are like, "NR MM." Seriously. What the hell's the strategy in that? You give the enemy time to build a hundred photon cannons. Rushing, and rushing well is an art. It's not a noob tactic. People frown upon cannon rushing. If you can do it successfully, it's just like in SRO, where people are like, "OMG YOU CHEAPASS YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO ONE-STAR POP." It's part of the game. Deal with it.

Anyways, I'm not going too much into my strategy either. Quotes come from the Starcraft Quotes Game me and Shadow played last week or something.

fena wrote:I actually play guerrilla. Come in, come out. Attack, back out. Just annoying. My matches take a long, long, long time, but at the end, the person that I'm playing is so annoyed and so pissed that his focus is completely off, and then I drop in with my main attack force, and he doesn't have a clue what's going on. My bases move like the wind. When I'm done with a mineral patch, I destroy my entire base, and move on to the next one. It'd be interesting to play you. Entirely different style of play.

fena wrote:Actually, IMHO, Zerg are the absolute best race for guerrilla warfare. Sure, Terran has the mobility, so there's no need to destroy your entire base when you're done, but the parasite, burrowing, Plague, and suicidal units that annoy the shit out of your opponents, just can't be beat. I just run around when I'm playing Zerg, parasite everything and anything I see, and then distract the enemy with a bunch of lings / scourages. The parasites are amazingly useful to find out the chinks in the enemy's defense, and you'd be surprised how often people don't notice it, especially if you parasite the right units - marines that are about to head into Bunkers, SCVs... etc. And once you find out the chinks, you don't go straight ahead and attack. You find out all the sub-bases, the expansions, and send lings, lings, lings. To each and everyone of them. The rate that you can produce units for Zerg is crazy, and since you can produce more units, that have less power for Zerg, it's awesome for distraction - more units, more attention that the enemy gives you. And Zerg perfectly fits the job.
Yes, my games take a long, long, LONG time to finish, simply because I dodge around, and never face the enemy head-on. Call me a coward, but this is just my style of play, and it works. My ladder game record was 312-23-2, and it would've been higher, but when I came back to playing SC, they removed the Ladder games or something?

2 pr0 4 u 8)

lol, anyways, SC is an old game and the graphics are pseudo-3d, but the fact that the races have almost no like units (unlike every other RTS on this planet) makes it very enjoyable.

Too many people play the computer and wait for all the resources to run out and then destroy their base slowly. You can be considered good if you can beat the computer in <30 minutes w/o rushing.

How to beat guerrilla warfare:
1. Learn the Queen

2. PUT YOUR DAMN TOWERS INSIDE YOUR DAMN BASE AND NOT ON THE EDGE OF IT! THEY CAN RUN RIGHT PASS THE TOWERS AT THE EDGE! LEARN TO TOWER! NOW! RIGHT NOW! I MEAN RIGHT NOW! SERIOUSLY GO PLAY AND LEARN TO TOWER NOW! YOU CAN'T SERIOUSLY BE READING THIS CAN YOU? WOW DO I REALLY HAVE YOUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION? SO I CAN SAY ANYTHING? WOW WOULD BE HORRIBLE IF I PUT SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES IN HERE!

3. Cloaked units that aren't fighting=streetlights, learn to use the fog of war

4. Mobilize! If you have 93829 units for a standing army you've just lost unless all of them are in enemy territory. It is easy to kill army v. army it's hard to comprehend 4 armies v. army, move your units to defend against runners.

5. Flank. Don't just send your infantry and melee units (they tend to hit higher) at your enemy and watch the fun colors, move them! If you are wining the fight, then you won't mind taking some damage moving your units behind their units.

6. Well I just logged in... so bb

If you don't have intestinal fortitude, you won't last an hour against Fena, learn this, and you don't have to.

:P @Fena
