Suggest some anime for me to watch. Nothing drawn out over ridiculous amounts of episodes, ie: no Naruto, One Piece, etc. Bonus points for being recent, or having depth or humor.

Hmm Recent .. meh I dunno but if you want a shortish Anime-Series go for Ghost In The Shell ... always had a soft spot for it.

Yeah, not much talking. Just pretty much killing. I liked it though.

Satoshi Kon movies. Tokyo Grandfathers not so much, but Perfect Blue and Millenium Actress are surreal and good and quality that you hardly ever see in anime movies. Also Paprika just came out in my area, haven't seen it yet but planning to. There's a theatre near me that actually shows new release subs, if I could afford a ticket right now I would have seen it this weekend.
There's a Korean movie, Old Boy, seen that? It's not anime but it popped into my head. Messed up, insane, awesome.

Death Note. 35 Episodes Inked so far, 2 more coming out then it's done. There's two real life movies about it too. Final episode of the anime airs sometime next week.
An anime that really makes you think, lots of very detailed storylines, excellent drawings and well-rounded, fully-developed characters.
S-Cry-Ed. 27 Episodes I think, decent show, some cool chars, not absolute top-grade but it'll give you some entertainment.
One of those "another world" kind of animes with lots of random explosions and super powers.

Blood the Last Vampire.
Vampire Hunter D.
Ninja Scrolls.
Ghost in the shell (the first one).
Evangeloen (Not that many episodes really).
They are all old, but still very good.
