Um hey guys, i just had a problem where my computer wouldn't start up windows because i was missing a file called "HAL.DLL". In order to fix it with my Windows XP installation CD i required my administrator password. Problem is, I forgot it. Somehow, the computer managed to fix itself and began to run Windows XP after i took the CD out. I'm worried that i might not be out of the woods yet, so i was hoping someone can provide a guide that will allow me to change my password while in XP.

Ok guys i have a new problem.. It turns out that i had a trojan virus on my computer. After removing the Trojan i find out that i can no longer connect to the internet. MSN Messenger said it couldn't connect because it said i had an invalid IP address. I tried system restoring but that doesn't work. I think someone has stolen my IP address and i was hoping someone can tell me a way to recover it.

Go here for your password troubles.

As for your Internet troubles, I need more details. You can't have your IP address stolen. I'll need a bit more information on your network config.

Try opening a command prompt and entering in

Code: Select all

ipconfig /all >> desktop/ipconfig.txt
Then post back here with the contents of that file.
