Backing up and maneuvering vehicles in small places

So why is it that literally 9/10 people, regardless of age, can't back up for shit? Why can no one accurately judge how much space there is between their bumper and the bumper of the car they're trying to park close to?
For the first, people need to learn to use their god damn side-mirrors. Simple as that. If there's open space between your vehicle and whatever you're afraid of backing into, you aren't gonna back into it.
No one see's this logic.
And as for being able to nose up within an inch of another car...well maybe that's just me. Can't expect everybody to be so confident.

No lol. I don't make mistakes when I'm backing up.
It's just that when you work at a gas station, you see lots of people try and back up and turn around in small area's. I've seen many many many many many shitty drivers.

Depends on how well you know the car you are driving.
Im decent at backing up, but I wouldnt considering myself a great parker at all.

For parking close to something else, it does matter whether you're used to the car or not.
But for backing up...it doesn't matter. Give me any car or truck. If there's open space between your vehicle and the thing you're backing around, you won't hit it. Big period.

My driving test ... Slightly touched the rear cars bumper with my car .. Instructor was like .. Oh we all do that on the first few tries it's ok .. Didn't get any - points for that.
Now I'm alright obviously ... but just goes to show instructors don't give a shit ... or at least not in Plymouth

omfg.. you hate 99% of the concept cars? with concept care the car companies
can take their designs and developments to the extremes.. really if you like the
production cars better than 99% of all concept cars you have seen, youve been
reading the wrong car magazines.

Perhaps.
Super Street
Sport Compact Car
Evo
Import Tuner
Road And Track
Motor Trend
I extremely dislike the looks of, like I said, 99% of the concept cars comin out.
And then there's the next gen NSX concept.

They're not called
concept cars for no reason..
Parallel parking sucks.. yeah.. everybody knows that but regular backing up I don't see as difficult but a lot of people do.

Try that in Belgium.
If you failed parking, you fail everything.
Or so it was, it's slightly changed now.

That's an understatement.
But with a paintjob and a way to cover those folded backseets, it would be handy.
