lets build our own online game

umm ok ehre it goes.. i remember that me and more other guys in another forum hade an idea to make an online game that will be free and everyone wil help building it and everyone will give ideas and we will vote for it and all i think it can be fun cuze i now there are some good programers and some disgners here..
thought maybe can be fun...
so what do you guys think?

It's a good idea, but hard to actually do..
Even harder to succeed..
Do you have general ideas like:
- Storyline
- Max lvl
- Kind of weapons
- Kind of classes
- etc..

lol not really a good idea as nothing as be tought about. also it wouldnt
work.
I mean yes we can dream but lest face facts, were stuck with JM

lol and most people who were in juz wanted to make up the classes ans the storyline..no one wanted to do the technical stuff

an idea is an idea, just make up the story, the lvl's the rquip and all that stuff, give it a head start, and ill bet ya ppl will follow

Making a game dosnt happen over night. It would take months/years. You also seem to be overlooking alot. servers for one thing.
Servers are expensive to buy/run/maintain and on top of that you will need a very expensive business internet connection that can handle thousands of people accessing your servers at the same time.
Also, most companys that produce free games tend to be backed by other companys or have other games/products that fund it.

These things always start with the idea, unfortunately, they also die with it.
Unless you actually have the resources, the initiative, and the knowledge base to pull something off, all your gonna have is "an idea to make an online game that will be free and everyone wil help building it and everyone will give ideas and we will vote for it and all i think it can be fun" and nothing more. This really isn't the first thread on these forums saying the same thing

I'd suggest a fast paced FPS like counterstrike thats free since thats what everybody wants
all the free FPS games these days are just "tactical op" kinds where its really slow and there are not any shootouts.
So in my opinion a fast paced FPS would be the best.
