CDC0 - A Petition to Revive Carpe Diem MMORPG

Hi everyone,

Long time no see. :) I'm just stopping by to post this. Please show your support by taking a few minutes of your day to help us with this cause. Thank you very much!

--------

This is a bit of a shameless advertisement, but here goes nothing. A group of ex-players from the MMORPG Carpe Diem that sunk when its publisher, Persistent Worlds Ltd ceased trading, have created a petition with the focus of gathering enough interest for another company to pick up the game and bring it back to the Western market.

Whether you used to play Carpe Diem or not, your signature will be highly appreciated. Carpe Diem was a unique game with quirky visuals, great gameplay, and an absolutely fantastic community spirit. Daily GM events and excellent customer/staff communications were just a couple of its outstanding features. Many people were heartbroken when the game shut down, due to poor marketing strategies leading to poor sales.

This video shows all ingame footage, created by members of the Beriths 27th guild (of which I myself lead, and provided the shoulder for the fey in the video). Please watch. :)

Perhaps you are mildly interested in trying the game out, if it came back and was free-to-play? If so, please do sign your name. We need all the support we can muster for this, our last-ditch attempt at reviving a wonderful, but under-appreciated game. One of the CEOs of Persistent Worlds, Phil "Vortal" White, has agreed to put forward our cause directly to GNISoft if we get enough signatures - and that's all that remains for us to do!

You can help. Every signature is important. The petition can be found here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/CarpeKin/in ... getnewpost

You may choose not to provide your email address if you wish, but for the sake of appearing valid it would be appreciated if you provide at least a spam account to sign with. :) Otherwise, it's no big deal.

Once you've signed your name, that's it, we won't require anything else of you; you can delete your account at the forum, or do whatever you wish. It only takes a few minutes, and you will be making a valuable contribution to our efforts.

Carpe Diem!

If the company went out of business, doesn't that mean that there is a chance they just scrapped the whole project?

Meaning they don't have the files to even boot up the game if they wanted to? sorry for asking such a dumb question, just wanted to know.

Good question. :) The game is made by a Korean company, and has several region-specific versions across the world. Persistent Worlds was merely the publisher in charge of the European version. I'm pretty sure all the files we had are still being kept safe somewhere. I hope so, at least... it would be a shame to waste all that work.

The fault of the game's demise was entirely due to poor marketing decisions. It is infact a marvelous game, and we all miss it very much. :(

Make sure to check out the video I posted, which should give you an idea of what it was like. You don't need to make any commitment to play if you sign the petition - the signature is all that's needed.

Thanks guys :) Nice to see you all again!

If Carpe Diem came back as F2P, you can bet I'd play it again.

Then sign the petition!

For those who never played Carpe Diem, you really have to experience the events which were held multiple times daily in the Persistent Worlds version. They ranged from random treasure hunts, to small sneak attacks, to full blown town invasions—in one case the main town area in the game, which only has level 1 chickens in it, was completely overrun by massive amounts of level 100-130 enemies. The "good" GMs stepped in to assist in the fight and kept getting killed by Blue Sky Golems.

Apart from that, it's not very graphics-intensive, and takes a little getting used to, but it has some really original mob design, character/equipment design, and especially some of the advanced skills.

Wasn't this on the 2moons off topic forum?

Anyway, I have heard some good things, yet never had the chance to experience it, so I will sign. (even though I know it will go no where...)

It's day 4 and we are doing alright, but not great. We need all the help we can get. If you are just interested in beta testing a game, than taking part in this project will give you a good chance of that. All signatures that have been made from here are appreciated. We are in dire need for more support. You do not have to register on the forums, you only need to post as a guest. You do not even have to leave your e-mail, just your signature is good enough for us. If anything I can always contact you on here by your user name, that is if this project is successful so I can notify you for beta testing :)

It's day 5 now, and each day the signatures we get is less and less. Our goal for today is only 15 signatures. I think we can get this goal down for today, it really isn't much. We hope to get 500+...Going to take quite awhile. If nobody minds I will keep you all updated on our progress :) Hopefully more people will get involved, and actually become a part of our community.
