So I was playing some Morrowind

Post by Bakemaster »

This game is pretty amazing. I didn't give it enough of a chance the first time through because I hated the combat system. And to be honest, the combat system is crappy.

Anyway I was poking around with my pokey stick training stats and I was feeling silly so I made one of those trendy leet-gifs.

i didnt like morrowind or oblivion. I didnt really enjoy the quests and I'm a little OCD so I was doing alchemy all the time and picking up all the plants and stuff. There are tons of flax seed in the game.

Morrowind is probably the one game I've spent probably around 1000+ hours on. It's probably the best RPG I've ever played (even though the combat does suck nuts). The amount of exploring and questing you can do in Morrowind is something no other game can offer. And the graphics should look crappy, the game came out something like 6 or so years ago.

The game is so giant you really forget about how dated the graphics are. It's still fun to play.

It's pretty amazing the size and detail of this game. Also I was running around Balmora at night in the middle of a thunderstorm and lightning strikes kept freaking me out. There are hundreds of books that you can read chapters from, just lying around. A wizard fell out of the sky and died at my feet. I tried using the scroll that I nicked off his corpse and it let me jump about 500 feet into the air. Coming down was a bummer. Good thing I saved.

Exploring the bitter coast was fun EXCEPT for getting molesterated by groups of slaughterfish when I'm right in the middle of swimming from one island to another and have no stamina. That was significantly less fun.

For people commenting on the graphics, you're probably noticing the body segments for one thing; yeah, bodies kind of suck, and this is WITH a better bodies mod. Thing is, the human bodies look a lot better than the whatever the kitty race is called bodies, and they all look ten times better when they've actually got their armor on instead of running around half-naked like I was doing at the time. Yeah, the game's five years old, the graphics are outdated, the combat system blows, but every other aspect of this game is amazing. Also: you can steal shit up the ASS. (No, not by putting it... no. You can steal many things.)

Yeah you can steal stuff to the point where you literally have no place to sell or keep it because of how valuable it is. On the Xbox version, my character's horde holds an item worth 500k gold, and plenty of others over 100k. The most you can sell for is 50k and that's at this super secret NPC in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah.. that mudcrab on azura's coast right? I spent about 10 minutes looking for that bastard after finding a daedric mace in some dunmer daedric shine thing (those massive, elliptical strustures scattered around the ashlands) before I got bored, there were so many rocks/trees/unclimbable hills there making it impossible to find him. If I ever dust off the old morrowind and reinstall it, i'll just turn no-clip off, find him, then kill him. It will be satisfying.

There was one way to be able to sell high-valued loot for lots of gold though, in Caldera with creeper that talking scamp thing. You could sell him 5K gold over and over again, sleep for 24hours, then repeat the process. After a while he gets a fair bit of gold.

Its more fun killing him and taking it though.

You guys ever finish the main quest? I did it once. To be honest, just randomly freelancing across Vvardenfell was more interesting+more fun. It would be more enticing to do the main quest if there was a bigger payoff in the end, I was quite disappointed when all I got was to see a blue sky outside Dagoth ur's mountain lair thing, I missed those high-pitched wails of the ash storms. Sometimes they freaked me out/pissed me off.

I would say something funny here but I can't think of anything.

I beat it on the Xbox, my character on that has all of his major skills maxxed, and is like level 50. It was a crappy ending, but since it wasnt really an ending, it was ok.

I got the GotY version which comes with the expansions so now I got this assassin attacking me randomly, which was kind of annoying at first, but since I picked up some nice gear in Balmora it's just an easy way to make some money since his armor's worth a few K.

weird, it doesnt look like you have better bodies. but bb doesnt effect the Kajhit (or however you spell it) much, so i donno. Fun game though, i wish you oblivion was as detailed. If morrowind had oblivion's AI, Graphics, and fight system it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

Oblivion's AI... Yeah.

Like I said, better bodies doesn't do too much for the nonhuman races.

i cant deny that morrowind is a good game, but the combat system put me off, i liked oblivion because the combat system isnt as bad but oblivion is missing like 80% of the features morrowind had :\

I remember Morrowind... I felt fruity 'cause my sword was glowing purple... Umbra or something. Some huge orc dude in the middle of nowhere that kicked my ass randomly one time dropped it after I returned, when I was much stronger than before. Then I went on a guard-killing spree. Good times.

I too, fell to my death from that scroll. It didn't occur to me that it was how the wizard'd died. Description was like... "levitate 500 ft for 1 second" or something. Levitate = fly. Flying ending = fall. 500 feet = ow. 1+1+1 = bad idea! Morrowind taught me to use common sense in games.

Okay I found a dungeon in the islands on the bitter coast that is kicking my ass. With saves and a lot of waiting for my healing enchant items to recharge I got through most of it... and then I got my ass handed to me by a frigging Flame Atronach and I have no idea how to kill it because my sword "has no effect". Anyone have some advice? I don't have any ice spells yet.

Oh and about Oblivion check this out, this is even better than Morrowind's jumping wizard:

If you didn't figure it out yet you probably need an enchanted/silver/ebony/daedric weapon. And lol at the Better Bodies nudity.

I just wandered into the prison building in Ebonheart and they were like that, I swear. The guy there, he's the Dread Pantser of the Bitter Coast. I managed to fight him off by using a freezing touch spell on his nuts. Then I ran and didn't look back.

Okay, so I killed them all, and the naked guy is following me around for some quest. I didn't MAKE him naked. Some witch stole his shit and I can't find her so he's following me around forever, I guess. I thought maybe after I killed everyone that the prisoners that I set free would be happy to see me but they're all "Oh, you're Bake the notorious outlaw, go away, aagh argh." Agh argh because I stabbed them for being not friendly.

Lol, probably one of the 2(?) naked nords on vvardenfell. If you found him near Caldera he wants you to kill a witch that stole his clothes.

funny thing: if you are in gnisis there will be some guy standig in the river without a pants all he says is : Zainab stole my pants!

You're gonna have a blast killing the berserkers in the north once you start the Bloodmoon campaign. Nothing is more hilarious than a buck naked woman chasing you in the snow with a battle axe.
