Top 10: Combat Rifles

Post by user »

serie from Discovery Channel

Top 1, you know it, the AK-47 "Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists." - Lord of War

Here's my top battle rifle. It's actually worthy of the term battle rifle too. (Rifle caliber with full and semi auto setting)

FN-FAL/STG58

And this is my baby:

VZ24 Mauser

@Reise if you search Top 10: Combat Rifles in youtube, FN is the only the list too and you can watch the brief history and the rating on it

if i remember correctly about the FN and the AK, the Soviets re-modelled the AK and the AK round so when they find NATO ammo, the AK can use it, but when NATO find Soviet ammo, the FN wont chamber Soviet ammo

I still love the MP5 and the MP5/10. Nice SMGs. Funny though how H&K first started making sewing machines

My Weapons of Choice would have to be:

Rifle
The M4A1 Carbine
Image

Sub-Machine Gun
The H&K G36C

During the 1998 riots here in Jakarta, my security detail was equiped with H&K G36C's. Always been a weapon of choice ever since.

Weren't you 7 in 1998, Key-J?

I've always been fond of the Lee-Enfield although I've never actually fired one. Does that make me a poser? Oh well.

Woohoo, censoring every word that has to do with sex and swearing and being uberprude but every kid has one or more weapons ... I <3 the USA.

Ok, it's partly stereotyped but still o.0

I am not interested in real weapons because:

1) What should I use them for?

2) Getting a license is not that easy here.

3) What else except hunting is there to do then?

Don't need a license to own firearms in the US. I could get a minigun if I had the cash and someone who could sell me one.

And you honestly think that is a GOOD thing? Maybe as long as people stay sane ... but ... you know ;)

As evil as it may sound to you, yes. Collecting firearms is a hobby for me, some people get one or two weapons for self/home defense, and some decide to use them unlawfully. To be honest though, do you think crime is worse because we all can own guns? If it isn't a gun they're killing/attacking people with, it's knives and other crap.

here is what i am thinking, say some teen goes to rob a supermarket with 9mm, but what if there are 5 other ppl in the market with pistols too, that 1 pistol vs 5 other pistols, you still gonna rob the place or run for it?

a lot of firearms sold are for self-defence like for the ppl live in rural area, if some user break into your house and trying to hurt your sexy 'significant other', you going to him/her "calm down honey, let me call the cops, they'll be here in 20mins" no right? you'll go to Reise's garage and grab his/her minigun and mow the mofo down, or not

Just pulling a gun on an intruder, loaded or not, would probably be enough to get him to haul ass out of the place. But I'd always keep a few rounds kicking around just incase heh.

too bad it will never see field duty. They are already working on/worked on a new system like that, OICW is a good system but had some technical fallouts.
