Historians found out a long while ago, (waaay before the movie) that not only 300 were there to fight the last battle between the Persian empire and Sparta, there were a hell of a load of Greece fighters but most of them retreated when they knew that they were gonna be cornered, everyone left except the 300 Spartans and the 1000 fezbians who were Greeks who lived on the land of Fezbia, they stayed to fight along side the spartans and did alot...until they died =P

In the movie there were about 1000 other then the sparts, remember? they were from another provence or w/e. So the movie was right i think, the name was just 300 cuz of the 300 spartans. and i think 300 would look cooler and sound coooler then Thirteen hundred!

Also keep in mind that just like the Trojan War a lot of historical fact
has been mixed up with myth and fantasy. So i doubt we will really know
the full facts :D

Since when is 300 supposed to be a historically accurate movie?
It's a movie based off of a freakin novel, not facts.

Lol.

Actually, we recounted, and there were only 295 Men.
Time to change the title.

well if you read up on it you would find out that there is no such thing as fezbians ever being in this war from what i know and that it was 700 Thespian volunteers that helped them.and then after they died they got more people to fight.

Either way.. sparta was still outnumbered by the persians. But also The persians had a poor army who made shields out of sticks(litterly).. Belive it or not.

Sparta had the better equipment. They fought in a small battlefield which allowed the spartans to defend better against the invading persian army :)

300 was so historically inaccurate. that is why it caused so much controversy. It was based on a freakin' comic. Sure it makes one hell of a good movie, but inaccurate. My history teacher was telling us how stupid that movie is because it was inaccurate.

Sparta had the better equipment. spartans just happened to wear full body armor

Persians are pretty dumb to not use siege weapons

spartans will need more than the phalanx formation when they got catapults throwing boulders at them

I watched them back to back, but Prestige was a bit scary with the clones and the ruthless killing. Two very good movies nonetheless.

Most of the persians fought with virtually no body armor... How light did they wanna go? ><

the spartan fought in really the nude all they had was a red robe type thing that didn't even cover there privet parts only protection they had was a shield a sword and a helmet.

300 is fake
greece (sparta) endorsed slavery
persians wanted to free slavery

Their version of slavery was completely different from ours. Their slaves were all prisoners of war and had the potential to earn their freedom. Not that it really has anything to do with the movie. At least, I seriously hope you're not trying to compare it to the American Civil War.
