u may already heard of this question but here it is and dont post the anwser to ruin it for others :D

This quiz is supposed to have been written by Einstein. He said that 98% of the people in the world cannot solve the quiz. Could you be among the other 2%?

There are 5 houses, each is a different colour
In each house lives a person of a different nationality.
These 5 owners all drink a certain beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar and keep a certain pet.
No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigar or drinks the same drink as another owner.

1: The Briton lives in a red house.
2: The Swede keeps dogs as pets
3: The Dane drinks tea
4: The green house is on the left of the white house (they are also next door to each other)
5: The green house owner drinks coffee
6: The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds
7: The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill
8: The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk
9: The Norwegian lives in the first house
10: The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats
11: The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill
12: The owner who smokes Blue Master drinks beer
13: The German smokes Prince
14: The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
15: The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.

The question is: WHO KEEPS FISH?

[EDIT] Forgot to mention that don't go on google and search the anwser cause that just proves u are the 98%

IF THIS IS AGAINST THE FORUMS RULES, JUST DELETE THIS POST INSTEAD OF HAVING THIS ROT AWAY...

Yes, it's in mixmatch's riddle thread, and is the only one I managed to see in time to try answering.

I did it a few years back.
I doubt only 2% can solve it.
It's not hard, you know.
But you need to think logical.
EG
If A belows to B then A can't belong to C, thus D belongs to C.
(Slightly more complicated, but it's the general idea).

Is it just me, or are 98% of "internet statistics" the 98% and 2% deal?

63% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

holy crap, its actually hard for all those who thinks it only needs logic, try it yourselves, and yes it requires trial and error, which i dont have time for because i want to watch prison break

i tried at it for half an hour and i couldnt get it, argh,,, head hurts i THINK its german
but not sure

It requires no trial and error. It is pure logic.

1. Create a table with 5 columns, one for each house, and 6 rows for each characteristic.

2. Write out all the clues and start with the most direct/easiest information (especially the ones that give the location of the houses) such as "The Norwegian lives in the first house." and "The Norwegian lives next to the blue house."

3. Eliminate each clue as you use them up and you should be able to figure it out.

Meh, I love logic questions.

I finish this in hour (i spent 1 hour doing this instead of getting 500sp =P).

Well, first The order of the houses are:
Yellow Blue Red Green White
Names:
Norwegian Dane Britton German Swedeen
Animals:
Bird Horses Cat XXX Dog

This is what i have came up with, I won't write the cigars and drink cus it will take me a while to write them up. Although, you need them to solve the problem.

XXX = Could be the fish, but it might not be the fish. You might just want to assume he has it. Maybe he has a lion. Who knows?
