My free subscription to McAfee ran out recently. I liked that program well enough, but I hear there are better one's to be bought out there, such as PC-Cillin.

What are the recommendations of you the SRF community?

Well apperantly your brain works much more efficiently than mine. I'd like a program to protect my computer for me. Oh but THANKS ALOT for the useful information.

I use Rising <-- Chinese anti-virus software
you just have to buy it once and don't have to subscribe each year, it automatically updates.

Dude, seriously, there's nothing more useful than the brain. If you get a virus, you didn't use all of your brain power. Strange downloads = Bad.

Free programs do not work as well as a paid for program.

Oh and your brain can't protect you from having an always on internet connection, can it?

My brain can, yes. And AVG is like 100x better than Norten.

I use, F-Prot Antivirus is good for me

ZoneAlarm Security Suite here.

Kaspersky is the best, but it's not free....unless you have torrents that is.
O, and AVG is the shit as well.

But I try to be carefull when I DL things anyway.

Care to explain how you can prevent an always-active internet connection from being at high-risk, especially with NO anti-virus/spyware/etc software? Cos as I said, my brain doesn't seem to work as efficiently as yours. I can't fathom how. Firewall doesn't protect from all threats, BTW.

Oh and thanks for all of the recommendations. Money is not an object BTW, so don't be afraid to recommend a 'pricey' one.

I have had bad experiences with anti virus software... after a year or so after installing windows I download a free one (like avg or avast), they get false positives and delete some important files, shortly after that I can start windows so I say screw em.

- The files WERE probably infected, and therefore they got deleted. I guess you probably put it to delete EVERYTHING infected, including .sys files. Idk.

Thx I feel enlightened now. But i still recommend formating and reinstalling windows, every 6 month should do it(if possible).

I roll it once every 2nd month, not because I have to, just for the xtra 20 fps >_<.
