I need some help installing Chinese on my computer.
+ I also need a program which can type out these words. Where you type out the words in letters and it gives you a list of options of which words you need. That's about the best how I can describe it.

Look for a language pack for Chinese, if you installed it, you can change the language settings to Chinese.
If it's installed right, you see it in the bar on the bottom of your screen, where you can choose how you want to type (Traditional or simplefied, or just the normal Western alphabet.)
You get the list of words you can choose from if you're typing and then pressing spacebar (at least in my case, I'm not sure if it's the same).

I meant the program for typing out the words.

Or does that come with the language pack?

Yeah, if you change the keyboard settings, there must be an option called Input system or so.

I got the language pack down fine.
I remember this being an add on that alot of people in china use....
Where you would type "Ni" and it'd give you the word of how it's pronounced...then you press the number of which one it corresponded to.

Not that it's related to this topic but it's "add-on" Kitty. Just for future reference.

Yah I think we have this on our other computer where you press Control+ Spacebar and it brings up this menu where you type the Pinyin and it shows all the possible words and you pick one.

Is this what you mean? I made a quick example in Japanese, but Chinese works the same:
At least that's what I thought you meant.
You set the keyboard settings to Chinese and when you type, a list of related words appear. You choose one and it's typed.
Sorry if I misunderstood you anyways.

Yes, but with English Alphabet letters. that's exactly what i meant.

It's pretty easy getting it.
On the right side of the bar, you see that little keyboard icon right?
Right click it, choose 'Properties'.
From there, you can add or remove different language settings for your keyboard.
You want Chinese, so you click Add > Chinese.
I barely use Chinese myself, but I chose Chinese (PRC) and then Pinyin IME 3.0. Then, OK your way out.
Next to the Keyboard image, you see what Language you are currently using for the keyboard, right-click it, and then choose the Chinese.
Just start typing as you would with the normal Western alphabet, and you'll see that the computer automatically changes it to Chinese.

I don't think this comp has a Chinese language pack installed, unless the Chinese speak in squares.

I think all you need now (other than the language pack) is an input method editor. Try this from M$
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6 ... stall.mspx
Just select Chinese at the bottom and then I think u'll be able to type Chinese into Word using PingYin.
This site has instructions.
