I haven't played it yet either, but it's generally considered a very good game by most (score 81/100 on metacritic). One of the best FPS games in recent years, noted for having a good story and good art direction iirc. Apparantely it's based on a novel.

Steam seems to have removed the masterpiece tag, but I recall it having it before :/

I can't really tell you much more than that. I made a topic for it because it's a renowned game give-away, which is pretty rare.

My eyes have only recently been opened up for free games. Nah, but I don't see any reason to download a game - even if free - that I'm not going to play anyway.

Except Metro is a very good game and had quite the hype around Last Light. It's not very long or that scary, but the environment is what it's all about really plus the lighting.

Just because something doesn't interest you now, doesn't mean it won't interest you later. I know I used to really dislike shooters shooters when I was younger, bored the crap out of me... At some point I opened up to them though. You never know when that might happen to you. Might as well hoard what you can if it's free anyway.
