Yuck !A Northern Territory man has been given a rude shock while snacking, finding a dried cane toad in a packet of beef jerky.
Unfortunately for him, he made the discovery too late: after he’d taken a bite.
The man had sat down to watch a game of football when he discovered the misplaced salted toad, his daughter Jessiica McDonald told The NT News.
“I actually wasn’t the unlucky one who had a taste,” she said.
“But my father took a bite. He was so into the footy game he didn’t realise until he took half a leg of what was supposed to be jerky - it was crunchy dried toad.
“Absolutely putrid.”
The cane toad is an introduced feral species, culled where possible.
While efforts to control local populations have been unsuccessful in the past, it remains to be seen whether cane toad jerky will catch on amongst diners.
