Angry Gamers

Post by BuDo »

Do you know anyone who is an angry gamer?...I tend to get repulsed by those types that start to throw a fit because their team lost a match and they start to get borderline (or down right) verbally abusive... Lets hear your thoughts about these people...because I don't fully understand them...

I understand that losing isn't fun but we're talking about a video game here...And you will lose some and win some because that's how it is....So what's with the rage towards team-mates?...I sometimes laugh but I am more disturbed, repulsed and annoyed by such temper tantrum behavior...

I don't really know any bad gamer, but I regularly play poker with my friends and there's always this one dude, every time he looses a hand, he goes "oh, if the 5 would've been a club, that hand was mine" or "Man, you got lucky, if that king would've been a queen I had a str8 and owned you all". every. hand.

So we started calling him Mr.If

I like to bitch and moan my fair share about my teammates. It's usually with good reason, but I always also look to what I could have done better to have won that engagement or increased my farm or what ever (talking about moba's here). I ofcourse never insult them directly, if I talk to them I simply ask them why they did a certain thing and if they don't give me complete shit back maybe a tip if I know anything about the specific error he/she made.

You remind me of someone I know...He's god-awful to get along with because of a predetermined mindset that nearly everyone else is inferior to him...And this attitude comes off in his mannerism even when he doesn't mean to show it... You have to exercise a great deal of patience to deal with this dude...

If everyone on the team is doing well and they win, things are great....If the team lost, it's almost never his fault...If they win and he was the one who carried the team to victory, everyone else sucked...I don't really understand these people...

Don't know anyone like that. I used to get pissed a lot when playing CS though. Now such a thing might happen in Dark Souls sometimes, but I don't start smashing things up. Other than that I don't really game much any more.

I've settled down a lot since my Halo 2 days. I was breaking controllers and headsets on the regular though.

Shit got real intense but I'm usually too high and gaming these days to really care anymore

Its OK to get angry at yourself and your own performance I can understand that...But when that starts to spill over towards your team-mates/other people you play with its time to check ya-self....

If I'm doing group content that requires teamwork and coordination with other people, and those people aren't holding up their part of the team, I deserve to call them out.

If they continue to be shitty then I'm probably going to get mad at them for wasting my time.

I think getting angry and annoyed at your team mates is counter productive. The only team game I really play ATM is League of Legends. It has a horrible community but, for the most part, I play with friends so its not too bad. If someone dies or gets caught out or whatever, I don't get mad at them. I always think to myself "what could I have done to prevented that from occurring?" Could I have roamed to provide support for him? If I did, what would have I lost? Could I have warded a specific part of the map? Should I have been pressuring my lane harder to draw jungle attention to myself as opposed to his lane? If I was winning my lane better would the jungler never ganked his lane to begin with?

You cant get mad at one person when they die as it's a team game; it's a teams responsibility to ensure that each player succeeds and contributes. I've typically observed the "ragers" have a very single player mindset and aren't realising that they could have done things differently to prevent the outcomes from occurring. To improve you can't simply point blame at others, you have to analyse your own actions and discover faults within your own mechanics and strategies.

Besides raging is such a dick move. People play games to relax and have fun, why ruin their experience and make them feel like shit? It's so silly.

I joined a "clan" on CoD because I got along pretty well with a couple of people in it that talked me into joining. Things were fine until I met one clan members, he was that guy that was mad at everyone when we lost and it was never his fault when he died. He would scream at the opposing team and some times scream racial and homophobic slurs. I left the clan because of him.

I am one of those players. I get it's a game but I don't play to lose. I think people start to rage when there is a huge lack of teamwork. For example when I'm in a pt in Sro and we lose our cleric but the warrior won't stop luring and gets us all killed I rage because 1 guy didn't think and got us all killed. Or in a game like tf2 when you have a team of 4 spies 3 snipers and a kritz medic and no one will switch you know your team is farked and it's pretty aggravating. I try to just leave but sometimes I just lose it on a guy and I think it's kind of necessary so people can see the flaws in their ways.

If you're constantly reminding yourself that it's game, I think you're doing it wrong.
Some people like to get into what they're doing. You know... immerse themselves a bit. Naturally an immersed anger arises well when they've got a short temper.

Either way, people saying 'it's only a game' just make it way worse.
Not everyone treats it like a game.

I saw a video of some dude at a convention gaming, and just shouting such retarded things insulting the hell out of the people on the side of the table he was playing with and shit. And raging so much. It was pretty ridiculous.

It made me feel like he should have his balls ripped off. Slowly.

It's not even just gaming though, if this is how you react to anything, you need some help lol.

I think these people need to find appropriate ways to channel their infantile short tempered behavior over a game because nobody wants to deal with it....They're the first to flip out if you treat them in the same manner lol...Also when they fuck up somehow its funny but it ain't funny if someone else does...My guess is they lack emotional intelligence and or have social/personal issues...

I cannot stand these people, they are probably the most annoying types in a multiplayer setting. when i was a teen i'd get really pissed off with myself/others over a loss but berating someone for doing bad.. never understood how it helped the situation any, who responds well to that? people should keep that kind of negative childish shit to themselves.

and if you're playing a team game online and you don't have a full team you cannot expect a full team experience, so getting mad at someone who was not hand chosen by you for doing bad/not what you want is ridiculously ignorant. accept the fact that you're going to get worse teammates sometimes and better teammates others, it's part of the system. focus on your own game because nobody is perfect and grow the **** up. /rant

one of the main reasons i don't play as much league of legends as i want to.. full of nerdrage blame gamers. that and i have no friends to play with :soosad:

I am usually pretty cool about it but often enough I just unload on people. Over the years I've gotten better about being understanding and after I say something rough I will try to say something helpful but yeah with mobas its frustrating when people straight up counter all your positive actions and an advantage you built ends up at the hands of your competition.

I've had instances where I get annoyed enough at some players for refusing to be part of the team and becomes one of the biggest reasons why we're losing so I end up calling them out.

There's also been some frustrating matches where the loss is mainly because of a shitty auto-balance system that stacks a few good players on 1 team against a team with 1 really good player and 5 novices. I try not to blame the players because it really is the system's fault, not the people playing, but sometimes I just need to vent.

On the other hand, I've played enough of those games to realize when a better player beats me so I just say "GG" and look at what I could have done better in the game or even ask them for input. The only way to improve your skills is to go against better players until you manage to play at their level or even surpass them. If all you do is bitch and moan every time you lose, you won't get anywhere.

Sometimes when I get really frustrated I slam my fist on my desk. Physical aggression is not healthy but it does help. Untill this happened after several matches of farked up matchmaking (assault in SMITE, ARAM like gamemode for you LoL players), retarded teammates, and just a bad frikin' day.

Even though I think this type of behavior is also childish I'd rather see this any day of the week instead of directing it towards others by being verbally disrespectful and complaining without end over what happens in a video game...

I used to care much more about winning when I was younger so I did have little rage moments but nowadays I just game when I have nothing better to do and as such I'm not implied enough or just don't care enough to catch feels over a game
