Built her this month. First PC build ever with the guidance of a friend. Took me several hours to build it, then again to do some cable management, and finally to do some modding (side fan mount removal, moving parts around, that glow-in-the-dark dunny).
Name:
Le MouserieCase: Antec 900
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Mobo: Asus Z87-A
Processor: Intel i7 4770k @ 3.5GHz (TPU set at 4.2GHz dynamic OC)
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB with ACX cooler
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2X8GB)
SSD: Samsung EVO 120GB
HDD: Western Digital 1TB
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
PSU: OCZ 650W full modular
DVD Reader/Burner: Samsung DVD Burner
Misc: Corsair 1500 RPM Purple LED fans
Misc: Logisys 12" UV Cathode Light x2
Misc: Mobo POST speaker
Misc: Antec900 Window Panel Filter
Monitor: Acer 24" 60Hz 5ms
Audio: Razer Ferox 2.0
Audio: Astro A* in-ear headset
Input:
-Microsoft Keyboard (meh)
-Razer Nostromo keypad
-Razer Naga Epic Mouse (wireless Naga)
-Logitech F310 gamepad
Prior to this, I had an ASUS G75VW with a 660M card and 2.3GHz Intel i7-3610QM so this is a pretty huge leap. So far I'm very happy with the results. The core temperatures are stable at 24~28C on idle and 35~45C when playing games on Ultra HD settings. GPU max I've seen is 60C once during a stress test/benchmarking on Ultra HD (once you increase fan speed by an extra 20%, it quickly dips down to 50).

I thought I commented on this already, guess not. In any case wanted to say it looks awesome, loving the toy on the side panel.

Just the tower itself, not including the monitor, after discounts and rebates..about $1500~$1600
I got them during the Black Friday weekend rush on newegg though so a lot of those items were sold out of discount prices in a matter of hours.

I recently also build my new pc, nowhere near what you got, but prices are insanse here... Tower like yours would go for over 3000$ here....

If I didn't get them during the sale, it would probably cost me around $2000+. The prices were about 10~40% off during that period. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

Lost my interest big time with desktop rigs...I know they're powerful beasts but laptops are almost there in terms of capabilities (some already are)....I can't stand those desktop clunkers anymore with their soon to be loud fans, mangled cobweb of cabling and their ability to be great dust buckets....

Yeah, I'm from Bosnia and I can confirm this... Hardware is really expensive here.

There are laptops with great gaming capabilities but obviously not to the level that a desktop is at. Then again, that all depends on what type of games you're playing. My old gaming laptop is excellent because I've never had any issues with heating and the dust filters inside takes about a minute to clean. It's a good gaming laptop but it's nowhere near what I have now. Not to mention, if I was to build a computer of the same power to that laptop, I would probably spend less than half the price I got the laptop for.
I still see very little advantage when it comes to buying a gaming laptop unless you're constantly traveling and you just gotta have your gaming rig with you at all times. There's also the problem of having integrated mobile-version GPU that cannot be upgraded or at the very best, have a limited number of upgrading options. And in most cases, you're better off just buying a new computer anyway since playing an extra $300 for a very slight increase in performance just isn't worth it.

Yeah, I'd like to get a desktop PC, I have a laptop atm and sometimes I need to take it with me but I don't need to have that computing power with me at all times because I don't need to game or make music away from home. Also my CPU is kinda messed up to the point that I can't make music the way I'd like and I can't play some of my FL Studio projects properly, dunno what happened to it.

Yes the cost factor and limited upgrading ability are definitely a blow against getting a gaming laptop.... For me though I much prefer having less clutter, more space and mobility if needed..... Not the best comparison against cost but it's what I like...

Very nice comp! But you have to find a way to hide that huge and ugly white 650W sticker.
