Shark whisperer my arse, only takes a second for those whites to turn on you, there be all sorts of factors why it hasn't attacked.

Humans aren't food to sharks. As long as they don't mistake her for a seal she's fine.

A pretty dumb notion shared by a lot of people....Despite the fact that we are not a shark's main prey item, they do eat people so I'd say we are a food source should we expose ourselves to them.... A shark's natural/instinctual behavior to assess what might be food should be enough to not pull off this retarded stunt....

Sharks are extremely curious and there is only one way for them to tangibly assess any strange object/creature they have never encountered before...and that is with their mouth...which is more than enough to kill anyone......

There comes a point where things just get too insane. This girl has found that point. It's just plain stupid!

Of 118 recorded shark attacks in 2011 only 17 were fatal. They're really not that dangerous if they aren't feeding. All of those clips on "Shark Week" of aggressive sharks are a result of them chumming the water to bring the sharks close to the boat.

I'm not saying she doesn't have a couple screws loose, but it's not like she's hand-feeding great whites.

And most, if not all, of those are people who didn't swim with sharks, but rather bumped into them.

But yeah, I get where you're coming from, and I partially agree.

A 14% fatality rate from shark encounters doesn't mean shit while you're holding on to the fin of a great white. She just increased that rate for herself with that mentally deranged and short sighted stunt (same for the cameraman).

I know sharks aren't mindless serial killers but you can't ignore that they are wild animals that are governed purely by instincts. You can't tell if the great white you see has just ate or isn't hunting and even when they are not hungry their curiosity and instinct to find out what you are is very dangerous....

You guys must live extremely uneventful lives. I don't see it as any more dangerous than wing suiting down a mountain side or parachuting down a mountain with skis on or trying to jump 20 school busses through a ring of fire on a motorcycle. It's just an extreme stunt that I'm sure she's carefully considered the risks involved.

From the video it looks like she only approaches the sharks from behind and to the side. I'm not sure how much peripheral vision they have but it seems like they almost can't tell she's there and just keep swimming along.

Grow a pair guys

I legitimately probably could and still come back to tell you all about it.

I mean it's not like she's going in the water covered in freshly cut steaks and bleeding everywhere to attract sharks.

Right....grow a pair and do something dangerously unnecessary...yes....sounds top notch... I guess you write the standard for what an "eventful life" is or should be for everyone...

Snowboarding and skiing are pretty dangerously unnecessary. Skateboarding, landsailing, bungee jumping, skydiving, driving a car, rock climbing, drinking excessively, etc.

If something being "dangerous" is stopping you from doing it, it seems you'll have a pretty uneventful life behind your computer screen.

But shark is a predator. So, would you let your kids swim with sharks?

Risking our lives aren't only events in our life. But I agree with you, kinda. I'd love to go bungee jumping.

Nearly all of your listed and supposed dangerous endeavor have a considerable amount of control (and predictability) on the part of the person involved..... Snowboarding tend to include a helmet with riders having experience on predictable terrain...bungee jumping cables and harnesses are constantly checked...Sky divers check and re-check their gear and perform lots of assisted jumps before going solo.....rock climbing same...

When you're holding on to the fin of great white you've surrendered all control to the un-predictability of a wild animal...(I wont even elaborate on the easy possibility of more sharks showing up)..It seems you're brain can't absorb that simple idea.... Russian roulette seems like an eventful sport....it gets the adrenalin pumping...I think you should have a go at it....especially seeing how you've appointed yourself lord and ambassador of what an eventful life should be.....

Because avalanches, which are pretty unpredictable, don't ever happen when someone is snowboarding or skiing down a mountain.

Because just because you check everything doesn't mean something can't go wrong.

Because nothing can go wrong while scaling a mountain side where you're using the tips of your fingers only to support your weight.

My point is this: is it dangerous? Sure, but it's also probably a huge thrill and the danger is something they have considered. Is there a certain amount of unpredictability? Sure, but there is in anything. For all you know you could be driving around the corner of your house and some kid could come darting out in front of you. You're not a bad driver for driving in the first place, it's just an unpredictable danger of driving. Does that keep you from driving? Temporarily as you deal with the law, but not in the long run.

I don't think the possibility of danger should keep anyone from doing something they want to do, within reason.

The possibility of danger exist at every turn and no one is arguing that..... The argument here is going out of your way to drastically increase that danger factor unnecessarily... It's the height of buffoonery....But hey...what do I know.....maybe some people don't feel they're living an eventful/exciting life until they deliberately use their life as gambling chips...
