So before the computer I have now I never used an antivirus because it would slow my computer now. But now that I have a better PC I can run an antivirus program with out lagging.
My question is should I install the antivirus or is it not worth it?
My computer hasn't had a virus since I was in 8th grade. ( Wised up on what is/isn't safe)

I don't think it's ever really a bad idea.
If you don't like it you can uninstall it again >__>
I've been with an anti-virus for as long as I can remember.
Avira Antivirus.

I don't use a antivirus either, because I don't download stupid shit lol (but I did get a virus from stumbleupon linking to a shitty site before) but I recommend my clients Windows Security Essentials and MalwareBytes.

I say screw antivirus.
Get noscript for FF or other similar addons for w/e browser you use, a firewall, and antimalwarebytes or something you like and you should be fine. Scan files you dl you arent sure about and use an online scanner like eset every now and then.
But then again if your pc is good and it don't make a difference on performance what could it hurt.

The general opinion surely changed. A few years back you probably would have been scolded for not running an antivirus xD I didn't have one on my desktop either and never had any problems. I use avast right now and it does pic up on some sites/programs sometimes so it never hurts to have as a secondary defense.

If you have gone so long without AV then I see no need to start now.
I've been without AV for 4 years or so, I've had 1 virus which came from a pserver client that was infected.
I usually keep Malwarebytes, though. Windows Security Essentials, Avast, or a cracked version of Kaspersky is what I would usually roll with.

I like to keep my computer safe when I look at porn, so I use Avast.

System Restore is the answer to everything

I find it very hard to get a virus nowadays if you know the basics of Internet browsing

Internet is not the only way to get viruses. I use Avast to scan USB flash drives. That's probably the most common way of obtaining viruses, if you're not retarded and click on every link while browsing internet.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security, and it has saved me a couple of times over the years.
Even though I don't really click on stupid stuff / download a lot of crap, I just like to know that I'm at least behind some sort of shield.
