So 2 years have finally passed and I can now get an upgrade on my cell phone. I don't want to pay the 100$ for the Iphone 5 or galaxy s4.

So I'm going for these which are 0.0$ with the upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S® III


LG Viper™ 4G LTE


Apple iPhone 4S


HTC EVO™ 4G LTE




Any suggestions as to which of these to get? I won't be doing any heavy usage, I just want long battery life and a good quality camera.

yah spend the extra 100 get the S4, put CM10.1 on it and get the full performance.


currently stock s4 and stock nexus 4 are on par in performance even though the s4 has better hardware (same GPU I think)

the s4 with CM10.1 looks good and will run great.

Get the iphone 5 for 100$ more. Im sure you can deal the 100$ down, just say you'll change provider if they don't do anything..

I'd highly advise skipping the iPhone 5 after seeing how miserable people are with them lately.
My crappy iPhone 4 gets 3 bars inside of Nissan whereas the 5 can't get more than 2 or make a phone call without it being dropped.
Most of my co-workers have to put their 5s in airplane mode or else their battery dies trying to find a signal or fighting with push updates.
I'm seriously disappointed in the 5.

As fast as they come out with new phones, I've never been able to wait the 18-24 months to upgrade, and I'd have to say, the S4 is definitely worth the 100 bucks. The S3 is alright, but has some issues here and there that were addressed with the 4.

After having a high end android phone, I still don't get the appeal of iphones. They're so tiny, but feel bulky, and don't have much to offer.

Comes down to preference. Had the very first iphone, fell in love. Haven't filed for divorce yet.

Out of that list the SG3 surely takes the cake.

Personally I've got a Sony Xperia Z, Sony has a bunch of phones with a nice design, good hardware and great camera's too.
The Sony Xperia S may be a decent phone for your purpose, good battery life, good camera. It's not as good as the Galaxy 3 is, but perhaps you can get it with a cheaper contract ^^

+1 before the Z i had the sony xperia S that was great phone also.

pay the 100 for the sg4, s3 is crap by now.

samsung's total crap. it's good the first couple of months, after that it's total and utter crap.

From the ones you mentioned, definitely go for the SGS 3!
I would - as a lot of other members have also suggested - lay down the extra bucks to get the S4.

BUT! Be sure to get the one with the Vanilla Android version (the one Google is offering themselves). I would never go for a skinned Android version if I had the opportunity to get the Vanilla version (the pure version of Android without any skins above).

1-3 days is a long time for a Smartphone battery to last, lol.

The camera feature doesn't seem to work where a video is suppose stop if you look away. Is it cause i'm black >=(q
