FINALLY I bought a car!

Finally getting a car!
It's a 2012 Volkswagen Golf Sportsline with 13,500km (8388 miles)
It comes fully equiped: Sunroof, Bluetooth, Heated Seats, LCD Touchscreen 7", iPod / iPhone plug, AUX plug, Steering wheel commands and a bunch of other goodies.
It is a lease transfer I will be taking over.
I will be paying around 350$ per month for 3 years for it.
The lease has 80,000km available which means I have roughly 67,500kms available for the 3 remaining years, which for me is quiet a lot.
So happy!!

Not bad. Grats!
Kind of interested in the whole "leasing" thing. Seems almost smarter than just straight up buying a newish car...

Well I look at it this way: If anything happens and the car turns out to be a lemon, and shit, I can just give it back at the end of the lease and get over it.
If it is awesome and runs flawlessly I can always buy it at the end of the lease. It's going to be 11,800$ + taxes.

Yeah, and from what I understand, the company you lease from actually takes care of all the car maintenance, with the exception of changes. Not 100% sure how accurate that is, but yeah.
Like, I know that buying a cheapish used car is probably the best in terms of finances. But the problem with that is that used cars are really hit and miss. Mostly miss.
I'm tempted to just do the lease thing here in a bit, tired of having to worry about whether or not my car will die on me. Even if a lease is a bit less financially brilliant, but the peace of mind that would come with it might just make it worth it.

The car will turn out to be a lemon after the lease is over and you buy it ;D
Nice buy.

Yea that is the major difference with me. I work 10 minutes away by walking. Its roughly 3km by car, if not less. So that wont be a problem. I can do 22,500km per year with it, and to be honest I think that is way enough. When I go back to school I will be living about 240km away from home, and the school is roughly 8km from the house I will be staying at. I don't think I will be going back home every week-end so I am not expecting to do more that 400km per week. Of course the first few months of owning the car I will want to go everywhere and drive around for fun. But that will soon be over when work + school starts again..
