Anyone here who uses it?

I've been using it for a while now and I enjoy seeing
the career progress of my friends and collegues and
other people I met over the years.

If anyone would like to add me, send me a pm with your
LinkedIn profile :] Would be nice to see what my fellow
SRFers are up to!

I've thought about getting one for a while, but kind of seems useless unless you've graduated. Maybe in a year I'll get one.

It's never too early to get one. All the professors and people that you meet in college now may seem like nothing special but they could end up being a great reference or connection in the future. It only takes 5 minutes to make, it is worth it.

Funny that you say that.

All my professors "Get linkedin it's so great!"

All my seniors "Yeah, it's whatever. It didn't help get me a job at [insert place]" Which is usually Microsoft. Though might be because where I'm attending. Microsoft and various other companies love to hire straight out of here either way.

I guess it's useful in the later years when you try to get a job after you left your old one and people google your name and see that it has previous experience as X places. As you said, in a couple years I'll take it seriously. Til then it's useless to me.

I agree with this.. LinkedIn is not so much for recruiting, but companies
DO check LinkedIn profiles when recruiting. Basically, it contains your
entire working history.

For those who think they don't need it because they're still studying, I
partly agree. You don't NEED it, but it does give you a chance to list
your working experience, your education, the projects you do during or
next to studying; everything anyone would want to know about your
professional career. Lots of business today is also done through
networking, so it offers a lot of opportunities.

Again, I know nobody needs a LinkedIn profile, I'm just saying it can
come in handy and, as Squirt stated, only takes 5 minutes to make.

I use it, and I'm really glad about it.
It has been a huge help in getting lots of different freelance jobs online. Nothing easier than just sending a link to your LinkedIn profile.

I use it as an online CV containing everything I have ever done, basically (or at least the things I would like to be remembered for). Also, you can ask to be recommended on there by your boss.
I've used that a couple of times as well.

All in all, it's great! I've sent you a PM ;)
