Code: Select all
"Up to 15 workers at the Agnew gold mine in the Goldfields have been sacked and banned for life from every Barminco project in the world after performing the Harlem Shake dance craze on site..."
They were fired due to safety violations.... A bit harsh and kinda funny but not funny when they had to go home and explain why they all got fired...I don't see what they're doing that is so wrong but I don't know in ins and out of mining safety regulations...

People have been getting fired/punished for doing this from all sorts of companies.
At a papa john's store 10 minutes from the one I used to work at, they posted a harlem shake video and all hell let loose. Even though they did it after the store was closed. People/companies need to lighten the **** up.

C'mon, brah. It's normal to fire wannabe's and assholes who want to be mainstream. If I were a boss of a company and caught my workers messing around like this I'd fired them because they didn't ask for permission nor included me.

Fuck around in a very high paying job > get fired. I see no problem with this at all. The mining industry in Australia is incredibly hard to get into, pays extremely well and follows incredibly strict OH&S policies. They have only themselves to blame for this.

I wouldn't fire them myself but not much can be said to oppose the decision.

Saw this on the news earlier today. From what they said they were fired for having their shirts and other safety equipment off while inside the mine, an obvious violation of safety. They lost their six figure a year job for thirty seconds of internet glory.

Think they deserved it... There's a time to play and a time to work. Especially in a place like a mining area... It is rather sad though that they are now unemployed.

Whats even worse is that these guys are banned for life from working anywhere in the world where that mine company has it's operations..... With such a high paying job these guys probably had a lot to take care of like mortgages, vehicle payments, kids tuition for school, other payments....I am sure they're gonna take it to court to try win back their jobs...or stand to loose a lot.... Would be quite a story to tell about how they lost everything they had over a stupid 30 second dumb video....lol..

It feels like some grumpy old guy is responsible for this.

they should be fired, not for breaking health and safety or having "fun" at work but for jumping on another mother fking bandwagon and making a stupid "internet craze" harlem shake video.
