SRF, asking if you can please help out this 7yr old girl

** Since it is explained below, Ill repeat here
This is RuYi's cousin. while a lot of you don't know me maybe, Im sure you know her. Please help her out, she has already sold all she could including her car to help out her little cousin.**

Hanyi, a 7yr old girl (dated photo) who sustained several third-degree burns when her house burned down on February 22nd, 2013
Image

Her and her immediate family lost everything in the fire. All of her family has since then sold belongings, including cars, tried to get extra jobs, put in savings, etc. They managed to raise almost $20,000 which is pretty amazing in such a short time, they're now currently $1,306 short just for the minimum for the surgery.

I'm asking anyone who can, please be selfless and give anything you can spare, even a dollar, to this. She only has 6 more days to collect the money.

Indeed and i find it kind of odd that fundraising doesn't go to 20k (just being 1306 of) instead it just goes to 1306...?
I'd like to see some more back-story too >.<
It's sad, but it's difficult to trust just anything nowadays.

note:
This is a namechange account of a person we all pretty much know and trust.
I won't say who, to avoid an awkward situation/ loss of trust or w/e.

Should I PM the name? as an Ex-staff I spose you could judge better if it's ok to know who it is publicly.
I'll PM the name :/

Im not RuYi, but this is indeed her cousin who is pictured here. Ive had my same account for a while now, think it used to be HTVHitokiri or something. I told her I'd ask around for her. But yes, its RuYi's cousin, and RuYi & family have been selling things to raise money to help her out. I hadn't asked her about posting here and including her name with it, but while typing out the initial post it did dawn on me that I and another listed her name in the donation message.

I haven't been around for quite a bit, if I was very scarcely, to know how her time here as a staff member was looked at. But Im hoping (if its a negative that she's involved) you can look past the stuff that went on here to help out the little girl.

The link has more background to it, what RuYi/Family wrote on it regarding the situation:

The little girl on the pictures is Hanyi. They are a little outdated. She is now seven years old. She loves jumping rope, cats and her favourite colour is orange.

Friday, February 22nd, 2013, she received severe third degree burns when the house burned down. She and her parents live in China and can not afford the surgery and care.

Ever since we've got the news, everyone in the family gave what they could to help pay for her care.
Because it wasn't enough, we started selling our belongings, and tried to find more jobs, giving away our savings.
Our family is only a small family, and we aren't very wealthy, but we managed to get almost $20,000 ourselves, but we are nearly out of resources and ideas.
We have a week left, until March 11th, to get the remaining money. We really did not want to have to try get the remaining money this way, but we have no other choice left.

The amount of money the fundraiser was started for is the minimum we need, hence the odd number.
Our remaining items that we are selling will not be removed from auction sites, and we will not stop trying to find more jobs now that this fundraiser has started.

But if you could please spare something, anything, to help to get the last bit of money, it would mean the world, and the gesture would be treasured always.

Thank you so much.

I apologize there aren't more pictures to add validity, I understand that would add to it. But I've been in contact with her since it happened, and she held off on reaching out with a donation link till yesterday.

It has been a very long time, maybe almost a year or more, since I was active on here. I had the HTV shaved off my name a bit before I stopped visiting (when I broke away from SRO.) Didnt think anyone would know who I was or miss it if I switched.

Alrighty, i donated a bit, it's not much but it's something.
RuYi has more than enough of my trust to warrant such a relatively small contribution.

Best of luck on raising the remainder of the money.

I gave everything I could miss. It is always tragic when an event like this occurs, but it is incredibly saddening when it happens to the youngest of a family.

At first I had the same reasons to be suspicious (even though I know you hito). But knowing Ruyi from here since a long long time I have no doubt my money goes to a good place.

I wish all of you the best and I truly hope this is the start of a recovering path.

Appreciate it, thanks a lot Tasdik. RuYi is still working on raising money with jobs and such, so she's continually reducing the goal. Anyone that can spare a dollar even, please help her out.

Donated and glad to see a few of our SRF members doing the same. Every little bit helps.

Btw, if Ruyi would be willing to share an address where people can deliver gifts to the kid later on, I'm sure a couple of us would love to send some her way. Once she has recovered from this.

(SRF people are softies, afterall. :) )

It's great to see so many people help out! That they reached the goal doesn't mean we have to stop donating though. Give what ever you can to help Hanyi and her family rebuild

hope the the kid will be able to live a normal life afterwards.

Couldn't donate myself, but it's pretty impressive how fast the goal was achieved. Best of luck to Hanyi and her family.

I am amazed the goal hit that fast. Very thankful for it. And honestly guys, you all helped a lot. I got more help from you guys on this than my friends and family on facebook. The SRF peeps have hearts. Thanks for all your help guys, RuYi and her family can't believe their eyes when they saw it was reached.

When RuYi told me about it after it happened i didn't know if i should have posted it in SRF, since she had recently left, but im really glad that Hito did.

I donated what i could, and i know that i would have donated more if i could at the time. Im glad that you guys helped out.

I know she will be happy to see this, as through the conversation we had i could see how this was affecting her.

Thank you for showing what you guys really are at the end of the day, a great community. Away from the game that brought us all here, like for me and many others, places like OTL and the people that inhabit it is the reason that we remain on this forum.

She posted an update:
I just got home after working 17 hours straight when I saw the goal was reached.
For a few minutes I couldn't do anything but stare at the bar that I never thought would be filled.
There are no words to describe how much this means. How grateful we are.

Ever since we got the news we did everything we could, work as much as we could, sell as much as we could.
We were more than willing to give up everything we had, but wasn't enough. That last bit was just a bridge too far for us.

When we eventually got over the feeling of shame and failure for not being able to solve this problem ourselves, we set up this fundraiser.
None of us had much confidence that it would work out, but we really wanted to try everything.
These times are hard, and everyone has their own problems. We didn't expect there would still be people willing to help us with ours, as well.
We can't believe the generousity of each and every one of you who gave something to help a little girl that they have never met before.

Considering the circumstances, Hanyi is doing all right. She gets something for the pain, and doctors have confidence in the future, though it will not be easy.
She is afraid to sleep in the dark of night, but her parents are with her as often as they can. Their daughter means the world to them.

Everyone in my family is eternally grateful for your help. We will never forget this. Thank you so very much.

I've deactivated the fundraider. There's a small amount left to be paid, but we get that money from items that will be sold in a few days.
Again, we are most grateful for the help, and though it's greatly appreciated, we do not wish to rely on the generousity of others any longer than strictly necessary.

I hope everything is going well with Hanyi and her family. Hopefully they can start rebuilding soon. I'm sure it's hard on RuYi as well, let her know she can always contact me here if she needs some support.
