Session 1 done today. Got it on my right inner forearm. Going to finish it on the 18th. So far I'm very happy with the result. The pain is actually not bad except for the wrist area -- it's still tolerable but still feels like my skin is being flayed. In any case, the artist did a Farking amazing job. She had fun doing it, I had fun getting it (in a way).
Looks cool bra. Looking forward to see it finished.

The tilt of the woman's head on the tattoo isn't quite the same (or doesn't appear to be from your photo) as it is in the drawing... Not sure if capturing her emote/essence completely is of great importance to you but it's still an overall good job...

I had also noticed this, but it could just be the angle of the pic, his arm etc...
Looks good though!!

I think it's just an angle of his arm. And yeah, it looks really good.

Thanks. Right now I'm just dealing with the aftercare. After looking at the piece for a while, I think I'm going to consider against adding a red aura (like the yellow aura in the original) and instead go with a full B&W. There is a tilt in the head although not as prominent as the original which I like since the skin is not a steady canvas; twisting my arm might give the tattoo a grotesque look if we went for the full head tilt. I can say that she does capture the essence of Audrey's work. The job was done with passion since the tattooist is also an Audrey Kawasaki fan.
And she was nice enough to shave off about 30 minutes of work from the bill for the first session. I know $200/hr sounds pretty expensive but if you're going to get one, I can say it's a bargain. In this artist's case, at least. Really made my day.

Yea, I think B&W would look better.

Yep..the only "bad" thing about it is that I'm already thinking of getting another one. Well, I guess that's a good thing too lol. I don't think I will be changing tattoo parlors any time soon although a friend of my recommends his artist who charges about $80/hr. His work is pretty good based on what I've seen but I see no reason to switch shop right now. I was divided between NY Adorned, Three Kings, and East Side Ink before.. all of which are renowned for their amazing work and are host to some of NY's best artists (based on mag reviews).

I've always thought how tattoos should be on the arm like that. Because the tattoo is going to be upside down to you most of the time, but right side up for other people. And the other way around.
But the tattoo looks very nice.

Thanks man. Most tattoos I see on people's arms are done in the same direction. It's either like this or sideways but I don't think I've seen one that was up-side-down yet. I'm giving it some TLC right now lol. Apparently I have superhuman healing abilities when it comes to tattoos XD
I already spoke to her about getting another piece done. Perhaps on the opposite side of the arm but for this one, it'll be fully custom. I'll draw the rough sketch whenever I finalize on my ideas and go for another consult. Also, it's pretty awesome she's getting a highlight on next month's INKED magazine. Pretty cool
