Xbox360 wireless receiver help

So a couple of days ago I unplugged my receiver from my PC. Ever since then I can't get it back to work >.<.
The little light wont turn on, my PC doesn't recognise it's existence in the device manager. I'm at a loss here :S. Did my receiver mysteriously get wrecked or is there still some hope?

it all worked just fine before I unplugged it, it's too young to die D: It's only like 7 months old...

I've tried multiple USB ports and a different PC...
neither worked, so I'm guessing it's f*cked, but maybe someone here knows better :S

Unfortunately that doesn't work because I don't have an unidentified device.
the actual device doesn't seem to even make a connection with pc...

it makes me think a fuse broke on the inside. something like this:

but I think I still have a guarantee on it, so I'd rather not open it up v.v
but that makes troubleshooting the problem rather hard Q__Q

tried different usb ports
7 months old

-> receiver broke
-> just put it in warranty...

Could be a firmware, hardware, or driver issue.

the driver should be already there if you're on a fully updated Windows 7 OS

I'm not on a fully updated OS. I don't like it updating without me approving.
However the controller worked just fine in the past, so I don't see how this could possible be the issue...
I will however try reinstalling the driver :/. lets hope it works.

EDIT:
this software won't install because it's already installed. I'm trying to uninstall the old stuff, but it's giving me shit D:
I uninstalled the driver by making inactive shit visible in the device manager through CMD, but the stupid driver still says it has stuff installed. I can't find how to uninstall the shitty xbox360 software Q_Q
