I just bought a basic Logitech M705 Wireless mouse for my laptop and HOLY MOLY WOW IS IT NICER THAN MY RAZER LACHESIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes im sad because I payed 30$ for this mouse, when I payed 70 for the lachesis 3 years ago...

Now, what I am wondering, is a "gamer" pad actually worth it to keep the teflon pads under the mouse nice and smooth?

I do realize that I abuse my lachesis much more than my laptop mouse so the longevity of the lachesis is going to be far less than the M705 I just bought...

I knew from a long time ago that my lachesis was running on its last legs, even though it pains me to say it, because the mouse is perfect, nothing wrong with it, just those stupid crappy little teflon pads on the bottom that are completely worn out... Which makes the mouse feel sluggish and slow while moving it on my desk.

Is it worth me investing on a mouse pad that is worth 40 - 60$ or just buy a new mouse every 3 - 4 years?

it's only 10 euro's and it works just fine. it's foldable and plenty large. I've been using it for 2-3 years now and there's no signs of deterioration.
I have the logitech m500 which seems very similar to your m705, so I'm taking it they have the same surface.

One thing with those mats though... Are they precise? Do they constantly keep moving around on your desk? Or is it stable? Because I hate having to reposition my mouse pad every 30 seconds while getting shot at by enemies in BF3

Mine has never slipped. It's got rubber on the lower side so it's stable. and it's pretty heavy material. I think you'll be safe with it.
Even if it slips a little then it's big enough to not be bothered by it until it manages to slip like 10cm or something.

^ and that's the medium size. you can get larger...

Btw: Not much space around my mouse area

Creates a lot of 'miss-fires' -.- ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M TRYING TO SNIPE.... stupid keyboard....

I have the same Steelseries surface, it works perfectly fine for me, it never slips, its smooth but not 'slippery' (i personally hate hard surfaces, cannot be accurate on them). So that's the one i'd suggest as well ^^

You need to give your mouse some Lebensraum man! Also, why is the chord stuck under your boxes? Free it up! You must be playing on very high sensitivity.
Get a mouse mat, free your mouse, lower your sensitivity and start real gaming. Honestly, your mouse setup is horrendous. How do you live?

Sensitivity is relatively low, and my chord is free, sorry for that angle of the picture, it seems as if my wire is stuck, but its not.

Why not just buy some table felt?

Easy enough to cut out what you want, or cover entire table with it, feels nice too... sure you can't really eat on it :S but you don't need to deprive yourself of food for a game.

or you could just go to a hobby store/walmart and find some cheap fabric.
