Student wears unwashed jeans for 15 months

EDMONTON—A University of Alberta student has discovered through science that a current fashion trend is safe, but can be a little stinky.

Josh Le donned the same pair of skin-tight jeans for 15 months without washing them. The idea was to break in the raw denim so the fabric would hug the contours of his body, leaving distinct wear lines and creases. Curious about the health risks of wearing such a grubby garment, Le asked his textile professor to test the jeans for bacteria before he washed them for the first time.

The results showed high counts of five different kinds of bacteria in the denim, but nothing that posed a health hazard.“I was blown away. I thought there would be a lot more bacteria than was present,” Le said Wednesday. “It sort of shows that it is okay to not wash jeans.”

That's why he never got laid. Oh wait, let me not wash my boxers for 2 years. That'd attract the press!

Is it me or do those jeans look way too clean to be worn for 15 months?

Can those jeans stand up on their own legs due to all the caked in dirt?

ehm if you're talking about jeans sure it's yucky to wear it every day for 15months etc, BUT you're not suppose to wash jeans, it loses color, you're suppose to hang em out let em breeze through, if it gets stains, you handwash teh stain very carefuly so you don't mess up the color.

Lets not forget how he further diminished his already diminished chances of hooking with girls on campus by making this public...

I only wash mine once a year :) . I currently own a pair of Nudies (my second one) and love them. Slim/Skinny jeans with real denim and as you wash them you get different fades (nothing too extreme but it's pretty sick as you "grow" with them").

The only Jeans I ever wear are coloured skinny leg jeans. 90% of the time that I go out (even in summer) I wear jeans. I own them in black, grey, white, red, pink, blue, yellow and green. I have had them all (par the yellow and green) for 1-2 years each. I wash them after every single time I wear them. They all look brand new. Perhaps your not meant to wash them, but mine sure as all hell haven't lost any colour.

They're probably not true denim then. Shit you learn when reading the manual that came with the pair lol

Dunno how this is news anyway.
Few years ago bought some nudies for $350...after about a year i washed them inside out and they lost a fair bit of colour. Never again lol
So ya, proper denim jeans should never be put in the wash. Thats not to say you should never clean them.

For my Nudies I can just put them in the freezer overnight and the smell is gone (but I've never had to)

Lol I have a similar story (David Bitton Buffalo right?). Had a nice pair from them in Gr.10 but they ripped at the bottom, broke my heart they were the first pair of jeans I actually fell in love with. :( Went on with Guess for one pair and now I'll usually wear Obeys or Nudies.

the heals are ripped cause you've stepped on them with your shoes.
So my conclussion would be that the 200$ ones are wider at the wrists then the 20$ if they have the same length.

Something like that. It's not about the brand but more about the style (slim, skin, baggy, etc).
