Ridiculously slow USB stick

So a couple of years back I bought this 8GB usb stick. It's an ADATA S805. I haven't used it very often but I think in the past it worked fine. For a pretty long time now though it's transfer rate has been ridiculously slow. Right now I'm trying to put Heroes3 on it and it's transfering at a whopping 152KB per second.

So... does anyone have an idea what's wrong with it? How to fix it?
I tried a format yesterday and turned it into an NTFS system, but it doesn't seem to work much :/. Think I'll turn it back into a FAT32.

How fast can a USB stick be?

Standard transfer rate nowadays would be at least 10MB per second I believe (assuming usb2.0)

Either the flash memory or the usb connector is defective
No point in using it any further as it costs nearly nothing for a new USB stick
