I'm a huge rap and hip-hop fan.

I listened to two of these songs, and didn't appeal much to me, but I totally get where you're coming from... Different artists will reach out and inspire you at different times and situations.

I'm a huge fan of hiphop too, but the only artist i really like is 2Pac. His lyircs, flow, beats, evetything about his songs is perfect. when I listen to other rappers, even if they are good, it seems like I am listening to a b-artist. the man is the king of hip-hop, now and forever.

@Miguez; Yeah thats true, i remember a friend showed me Pyramids like a month ago and i thought it was the gayest song ever. different moments really o_O
@heroo; eh, I used to think eminem was the greatest ever, and everything else sounded shit. Then lupe fiasco, then kanye west, then odd future, etc. even now, i never listen to rick ross etc, but im sure ill start thinknig he is good someday :P

I'd guess frank ocean is more of a R&B than rapper, though.

I listened to the first minute of "Thinking About You". The terrible lyrics, flat beat and his terrible high's lead me to believe that he is not for my tastes. /r/ other hip hop though, as a good hip hop song can be pretty fine.

Ummm why are some of you guys referring to this as hip hop?....I thought you guys said you're fans....His songs are more like contemporary R&B...(R&B with a twist)......At least from the songs posted here I'm seeing an R&B artist not a Hip Hop one...

Edit: Just read that he's a member of the alternative hip hop collective...I'm just so used to true hip hop....I still can't call what he does hip hop at all....I'm too old school I guess..

Frank's music isn't hip hop, more like R&B with a twist.

Hes not a rapper ofc, he's a hip hop artist in the sense that, hes R&B and I always put rap and R&B under the hip hop genre.

Comparing him to other R*B artists so far..Usher, Chris Brown, R Kelly, ne-yo, drake (lul yea), I think Frank Ocean is like, a lot fckin better, in terms that he can sing and puts emotion into his song (no auto tune shit..)

No he is not a rapper, he is a singer, lul
Seeing as how everyone here bitches about autotuned crap, i thought i'd post this.

And i think the beats are amazing @_@. Pyramids, the 9mins song has 3 different beats with perfect transition..

@gnarly; Im checking them out, I think I have heard some of them before tho :D

Well R&B and Hip Hop aint the same (or fit under the same category)....He's the latest version of an R&B artist..

His style is like The Weeknd's. Love them both no homo.

P.S: Try "Novacane" and "Swim Good"

Obviously R&B and hiphop arent the same, but yea they are similar..R&B influenced hiphop and today hiphop beats are used in R&B songs..
I feel frank ocean is more alt hiphop than pop as most R&B artists these days..
I have his first mixtape but i havent really listened to it, Novacane is pretty nice though.

I've heard one good RnB artist in my whole life, it was not good as in "oh I can listen to this again, again and again" but atleast my ears didn't start to bleed.
