Tattoo!

Post by Isis »

Decided to get my laptop out, first time in months, and I thought I'd post a pic of my tattoo that I had done last month!

Image

It's still not complete and needs a lot of work doing to it, before it is. He needs colour and legs! And then I will have Bastet the other side.

Although I'm not interested in getting any myself, I'm often very impressed with the art.
This one looks nice, is it Anubis?

Yeah it is Anubis, Bastet will be going on the other side!
I think when Anubis is completely finished, his feet will reach my bum.

I briefly dove into Egyptian history and culture years ago, although I've forgotten most, Anubis was always a favourite.
Yes, I was wondering about Bastet's absence. Glad that that will be fixed soon, you'll always be known as Bastet to the SRF oldies here.

Probably be a while before Bastet is even started, or thought about. Anubis (which isn't completed) took over 2 hours, and probably will be another 4-6 hours (maybe) before he is fully completed. He is meant to be wearing robes, and has a staff in his hand, which I am not sure what my artist is going to do, as Isis is in the way. Then I was thinking about having Isis touched up, so she doesn't look faded, also want a crown added as well (as she is meant to be wearing a crown). After my back is completed I am considering having a full sleeve

This to start of with, as half sleeve! Painting in Tutankhamun's tomb with his wife Ka and Orisis (Isis' husband)

i love this tattoo ive been waiting for u to post it for a whilst now, i also have a fascination with ancient egyptian history but i dont really know why xD

ive always wanted my coffin to be made into an egyptian style coffin as i think they treated there dead very respectfully (also i love the coffin designs of some of the more later egyptian tombs or extensions of old tombs)

i personally like the gods, Ra, Bat and seshata =)

Why so many tats? I know they look cool, but I don't understand why people like covering their whole body with tattoos. I can understand like names/faces of people who were close to you, and in some cases quotes that you live by, but other than that, I have no idea. Some of them look amazing, don't get me wrong, just don't know why people get a billion on their body. :)

It's about being individual, and being different. I also get asked, are you not worried when you are older, my all time favourite, will you cover them up when you get married!! My answer to that was 'No I bloody won't, they're apart of me!' All my tattoos mean something to me, even my 'tramp stamp' and the little dragon on my foot. I don't care if people don't like them! I like them, and that is all that matters to be honest.

I love that you used the word "bloody" in a sentence. I really should just start pretending to be English from now on. Their vocabulary has always intrigued me.

Definitely a fan of ancient history though, so I'm loving the whole Egyptian tattoo vibe you've got going on. Can't wait to see Baset.

Isis was my fourth tattoo, but I remember that thread as well! That was (I think) about 5 years ago!

The only time I use the word 'bloody' is when I am typing!

I never use the words 'chav', aubergine is a friut, also know as an eggplant. And those other words I never use!

Saw this a while ago on Facebook, I'll imply I'm repeating the same sentiments :)

It's a cover up, isn't it? Should look good once its done =]

As far as the whole "I don't understand tattoos, regret, blah blah blah", I'll pose you with a simple question: Do you think people really care about the opinion of someone else before they go and plaster their own body in ink? Tattoos are a personal thing; the only person who will truly understand their meaning is the one displaying them. They convey aesthetic pleasure, show personality, can invoke a deeper meaning or, at times, are simply done because they are a fad. I know a few people who say quite negative things about tattoo designs, but honestly, I really don't think their opinions means a whole lot to anyone.

They charge by the hour, £65 per hour, more on the ribs, which probably don't mean a lot to you!

Just coming up with some other ideas, thinking about something on my leg!

yeah i know about those sensitive spot wich cost a bit more

thats pretty cheap though for the quality, i guess he's getting you a good price since its a large piece.

over there they charge something around 100-120$ a hour wich is like 80-95 £

how many hours on it yet and how many to comes?

The work is very clean, was the back painful? I was thinking about starting my backpiece as soon as I am finished with my leg.

I just got the outline done recently, waiting for it to heal so we can do the shading and coloring!

It wasn't to start of with, but because it had to keep going over it for shading etc, it started to get painful after a while!

Just booked my next appointment for the 28th December, seems like forever!

I've never had any problem getting a job, but I can cover all mine up! But to be honest I am not 100% sure, I've only ever worked in care or retail.

in the uk, if tattoos are showing your chances of securing a job are lowered. ESPECIALLY in retail... unless you are in a alternative clothing shop.
If anyone asked me if they should get a tattoo i would always say that is must be in an area that you can easily cover up for an interview and your job.
