i kno right?! it was supposed to represent the internet age or something because the inventor of the internet is british... but the internet was a success because of its collective community.
the uk shouldnt claim the internet like that.

unfortunately, football isnt exactly great to look forward too especially as you can pretty much predict the winners from the very beginning of the season.

but it is a good excuse for a fight i guess

yup, because everyone expected Chelsea to win the Champions League.

And did you even see how the Premier League ended? It has never been this thrilling.

Real Madrid wins the 1st time since 2008.

Montpellier beats PSG in France.

Borussia Dortmund beats Bayern in Germany.

And Juventus is making a comeback.

Yup, this was all expected.

Aren't pro's prohibited from playing in the olympics?
So wouldn't it only be amateur league football? (which is less easy to predict)

And Poel, I'm not entirely sure TBH. But several, if not all, of team USA's basket ball members are professional players, so yeah. *shrugs*

I personally enjoyed the London Opening. Much more than the Beijing's. This one felt much more "homely". The Beijing one was more of a show. Look at all the shiny and ooh and ahh and the London one was more about the people. Then again, personal taste I guess. I use to enjoy flashy shit, but I guess I'm getting old.

Edit: Not saying Beijing's was bad or anything. I just felt like the London one's focus was different, but in a good way.

i didnt know christiano ronaldo got picked to be in the olympics!
i guess they just have to decide if its the 10m or the 20m platform

It's difficult to beat Beijing's opening show, but Mr. Bean made up for a lot.

But my favourite part of the entire Olympics 2012 so far:

I did enjoy Mr Bean, and did notice how the Queen just sat there for the whole time. I'm fairly sure for Olympic football, the teams are allowed 3 overage players, and the rest have to be under 23 or something. I ended up watching the games for about 5 hours last night, and they showed mens 250k road race (I only got half way through), a lot of swimming, a tiny bit of shitty-not-even-a-sport equestrian, and some rowing.

I'm assuming they just do it for the heats / trials, but here in Aus, they had one of the morning show hosts sorta host it, and he kept switching from one sport to the next, instead of letting the road race finish / swimming finish etc. That was pretty annoying, because I have no interest in rowing, or equestrian, but I had to watch it to watch the other two events :( /rant.

London 2012 Olympics: hundreds of ticketless fans turned away from archery
London 2012 suffered another setback this morning when spectators were turned away from Lord’s after arriving to watch the archery competition
Billed as the first London-based event of these Olympics, the ranking round is traditionally held on the day of the opening ceremony and is used to seed male and female archers for the knockout rounds, which begin tomorrow.
The event was listed as ‘unticketed’, meaning that it was not open to the public. However, by the time the competition began at 9am, dozens of spectators had arrived at the cricket ground in north-west London in the hope of entry. The confusion appears to have sprung from a lack of clarity in pre-event literature, as well as wrong information distributed by a number of websites not affiliated to the Olympics.

thats not even the worse of it.... the ticket issue has been absolutly shocking for the olympics...

the system went like this:
go online and register for a ticket... you dont decide what the ticket is for or what you see or what day... you just register for a ticket, the price will be higher then the price of a normal atheletics day ticket so that people who win the 100m sprint final will not have to pay 10k just to watch it... but that does mean the money have to be made up by people who get shit game seats...

so... that started and then 2 days later the website crashed dumping all the ticket sales with some processed and some not, money taken from everyone regardless of allocation...

then they tried the same system again but people had already decided the price was too high if they 1. may not even get a ticket... 2. may get a ticket but not processed so they pay for a ticket they dont recieve...

so they then reported a sell out of the games for uk ticket allocation.

they found they miscalculated and had another sale for tickets that had been allocated to events but they sold out fast too...

then the beginning of the year they were caught selling tickets to companies and advertising agencys which is illegal in olympics process so they had to find out where those tickets were and how many of them had been given away.

watch the games and you will see empty seats, yet there are many many many people waiting at the gates for them to open ticket sales for on the day tickets but people are getting declined entry.

huge mess up again from the british government
