Food ‘skins’ that mimic nature could slash plastic waste.
Sometimes a tub of ice cream or a pot of yoghurt is so tasty that we spend several minutes scraping out the inside and then, if nobody’s looking, lick the lid.Wouldn’t it be even better if we could simply eat the lot, container and all? It would cut down on the amount of waste we produce and the enjoyment of our food would last that little bit longer.
This is exactly what a team of scientists say they have managed to do.

Wouldn't it have to be wrapped then? If you can eat the whole container, and it's just the container touching the shelf, it's literally eating food right off the shelf.

I would throw it away. I feel like if they're making packaging edible that it's probably not the healthiest for you.

I would say the same thing.
Seriously, the the point of a wrapper is to prevent us eating food... that has been exposed to the air and to other people's handling.

the whole point of a container is so the food isnt directly touched with the surface (and so the germs etc). Eating the container kinda kills the point

They should focus on making containers/wrappers that are easily and quickly biodegradable rather than making them edible as well... Containers are suppose to keep germs out as a few people already mentioned....
