Attacked/harrassed in my own home by psycho marine

1:30 PM and I wake up to the sound of someone banging on my door like a mad man while simultaneously raping the door bell. I grab my morning robe and go to the door and for whatever reason I decided to open the door for this mad man. Immediately he starts harassing me and talks nonsense. He's angry I was sleeping, he looks around the house and tells me it's a Farking mess. I ask what the **** is going on and he starts screaming about the noise me and my friends are apparently making.
I tell him he has to cool the **** down and get the **** out of my house. He responds to this by telling me he was a special forces marine (this dude was like WAY big and I'm 5"9 70kg). Next thing I know he grabs my robe by the neck and pushes me up against my hallway closet and starts going crazy. He's shouting at me, pointing at me, he has a look of Farking insane death. I think I am going to get Farking raped right about now. I mentally assume the fetal position and wish for the womb but for whatever reason he decides not to completely smash me up.
My roommate wakes up from all the noise and joins us. The mad man is no longer holding me but he's shouting in our faces from like 10 cm distance. He's telling us again he's a motherfucking marine. We tell him to leave and he does and slams the door behind him.
Not 10 seconds later he starts again with the excessive doorbell ringing and starts banging on the door. He's telling us he's going to kick the Farking door in if we don't open up. We tell him we're calling the police and he tells us: "Go ahead! I'm a police reserve officer" (wtf is that, I never even heard of that).
We call the cops and the marine starts circling my house trying all other doors. I sprint around the house and lock all the doors while I wait for the cops. (yes, I'm a hero)
Meanwhile the marine starts talking to our hallway neighbors, asking if they also have noise complaints against us. They don't and the marine takes his leave, although not before banging on the front door and screaming he's going to kick it in.
When the cops come they first wanted to know what we have done to provoke such an attack. (We called for assault but they didn't even ask if we were okay) We tell them about his grievances with us because of noise and the officer proceeds to say that he "can understand that noise problems can be very frustrating", and we "must have done something to deserve this". He asks me and my roommate about our habits which could cause noise problems. We tell him we play PC games a lot during the night (2-5am) and the officer proceeds to label us as "gaming addicts".
He wasn't at all interested in the Farking marine barging into my house shoving me to a closet and proceeding to make me a prisoner in my own home while he's patrolling around it. I told him where he could find witnesses but he said that wasn't necessary. All he did was tell us to buy headphones and be quiet.
When he told me this I was like "wtf", but I didn't really go against it that hard. The police officer just made us into bullies and the psycho marine into a frustrated man without options.
To clarify: the marine doesn't even live in my building. I had only met him once before he did this. The people living in his apartment (the one above ours) are the ones that are supposedly suffering from our noise. The marine himself does not live there, ever.
We have had them coming over to tell us to keep it down one time and I was convinced we did. I suppose they still weren't satisfied after that, but how the **** does that provoke you into sending a psycho marine to my house?
Anyways, the cops that came here didn't ask me to press charges, but I really think I should. I am not sure though, as I don't have enough pants to shit myself anymore in case he comes and patrols my house again. This dude was Farking psycho. Should I press charges or should I just back off and not get Farking raped by a goliath marine? Is pressing charges really gonna fix anything? Does anyone have any experience with psychos like this?
TL;DR: Upstairs neighbors have noise complaints about us (only told us once). They send a Farking marine to our doorstep to intimidate and harass me. The guy is Farking crazy/scary/goliath hulk and grabs me close to my neck and shoves me up my closet. Cops don't take it serious and leave without doing a thing. Dilemma: press charges or not? Maybe I'm overreacting and I'm also scared he's gonna come again if we press charges.
