Because it was taken by NASA's VIIRS Earth-observing satellite... NASA, America's space agency...
When New Zealand launches a satellite and takes an 8000x8000 res image of Earth they can center it wherever they want, probably NZ.

It's too small. I've seen a pic with a width of 10000 pixels. It was not a satellite picture.
