Pretty much agree with everything he said, although I have no sense of obligation to reply to people's statuses on any social network :/
But yeah, Social networks are bullshit.

Twitter is annoying as well, but like he said, at least it's meant to be bullshit.
If the world were to have a single social network, I would probably prefer it to be twitter because it actually has the greatest potential to be of any use. Like during the japan earthquake all the Mangaka and voice actors confirmed their safety through twitter, which put my mind at ease (yes, I know I fail as a human).

Anyway, I don't have a facebook nor twitter. I only have a Hyves (dutch social network) which I put to good use occasionally. I only have a about 50 friends on there, most of which are people from my own class. I only ever say anything to like 5 of them :P.

i love facebook, and let me tell you why;

I have moved around since i was a little kid and lived in more than 7 countries all over the world, And i only stayed a maximum of 3 years in each country, so, to keep in touch with these friends i add them on facebook.
I have no idea how else i would stay in contact with them this easily.

Also, dont you love to see who you hooked up with the night before and if she wass really that hot? or if you want to meet up again with her :)

Also, it has helped me greatly in school, i have a group of my class (im in uni) and then we write questions to one another about something....

It just helps me.. and im not addicted to it like most of you are XD

I like Facebook. I went to school on a military base so friends came and went all the time.

Facebook is the perfect way to keep in touch and stay updated on each other's lives.

Its a good way to keep in contact as previously mentioned, but there will always be people who want to show updates on every single thing.. but you can always hide post from them and whatever else you need to do.

This, I am in the Military, I've moved a total of 3 times from Texas to Mississippi, to South Carolina. I keep in touch with every person I met there. When I go on TDY (temporary assignments) sometimes I meet ever more people.

A few months ago I moved out of home and moved about 200kms away. I left behind my family, friends, niece and nephew etc etc. Facebook, to me, is a really simple way of keeping in touch with everyone and making group plans to hang out with people when I do go back to my old home. People can put a lot of crap on the kind of information is displays, but ultimately it's just a platform. Each personality will have different information they wish to convey to the world. If your starting to question the uselessness of the information appearing on your page, than maybe you should question your choice of friends instead.

I do not use Facebook.
To say that I actually hate it would be going too far, though. I mean, it's not like I have something against it, really.
I just don't like how some people use it, and I want to show everyone I know that there is a life without Facebook. Some of the people I know have come to use Facebook so much that I doubt they can live without it. And the most annoying part about social media all together is the way it helps those dickheads/attention whores get even more attention, thus helping them boost their ego.
I know that most people use Facebook in a fine way, so please don't misunderstand me. I'm just saying that I'm not using Facebook, but nor do I have anything against the website or its purpose.

I just don't have the need to constantly tell everyone what I'm doing, or what I'm going to do in 5 minutes, or post thousands of pictures online, for the world to see, or constantly brag about my highscore in Farmville. I guess we all know that type of person, right?

In fact, it sometimes concerns me to see how addicted some people have become to social media. It's like they can't live without it. They feel the urge to constantly be online to comment on someones newly found relationship, update etc. simply to not seem non-social or to be "left out of the group".

And the constant hunt for likes, gawd. Yesterday I overheard a conversation of a guy talking to his two friends in a bit frustrated matter because they promised to "like" his status update, but they hadn't done so. Seriously? :palm:

Hahahahahahaha....I haven't had such a good laugh in a while. He's funny. I happen to agree with him though about some of the users. They truly have no lives and what they put up on facebook is the meaningless mundane boredom that is the true reflection of their lives. They try to hype up the simple things that happened in their daily life as if it isn't a common daily occurrence. Facebook is loaded with attention whores with nothing pertinent to share. I don't have facebook because I don't see whats all the hype about.

Don't get me wrong I think facebook is a great alternative to keep in touch with family and friends but some people shouldn't use it...They should get real friends and or call their friends and family on their cell phone to hear their voices if they really care that much about them. There is Skype and MSN plus a whole lot more other ways that's free if you want to see and talk to your supposed loved ones and friends.

I like facebook, I have got in contact with family, that I forgot even existed, I've got in contact with some old school friends, that I haven't seen in nearly 15 years. I can also keep in contact with my brother, who lives over 500 miles away. I can see photos of my nephew, and can see him grow up.
