I have a hunch that he is making fun of the anti-pirating slogan.
Do I win?

If it's guaranteed that I can get away with it, no risk. Yes.
I will also download as much pirated shit as I can, for as long as I live.

If i'll get away with it, then yes. It's better to have a game with a CD and a box than just a game in ur PC.
But i prefer copying a game for myself than taking it away, in other words torrents.

This is (or rather should be) the correct response I believe for the majority of people. Lots of people will tell you that they wouldn't because its not how they were brought up or its just plainly not right and blah blah blah....
They failed to realize that downloading pirated shit is no different. And when they finally understand it doesn't really stop them. Instead it reveals the truth. And that is people will often steel anything if they can get away with it.

No I wouldn't because there is no actual CD inside the cases, most of the times you get the CD after you payed for it, atleast that's how it works where I am from, but may have changed since I cant remember last time I bought music etc.

Well say you couldnt download it for w/e reason
Amarisa wrote:I have a hunch that he is making fun of the anti-pirating slogan.

Nah, I was just wondering lol
Its basically the same thing but i found funny that some ppl would do one but not the other.
@Hejsan In the US the CDs have the CDs along with the cover, but the games are locked in (but you could just ask for the game from a clerk, say you will pay for it later and steal it.)

....
In the Netherlands, all the cases of the CD's are on display, so all information you need can be read from the cases of the CD's, DVD's and games. When it comes to those singles, they just put in the CD from behind the counter into the carton, and with actual CD's, DVD's and games they give you a new one.
Pretty ridiculous to ask the clerk for the actual thing, and they won't give it anyways.

If i can't download a movie or something for whatever reason , i will buy it if possible or just pass .
Wow at the locked in CD's , where i live none of the CD's for films/songs/games are locked in or on display or attached to an anti theft thing and the clerk won't tell you anything if you hold 1 or 2 in your hands, observing them, Does this make stealing easier , it sure does .
would it make me steal even if i can get away without any person noticing , no it won't .
Code: Select all
If i can get away with it, then why not .
I imagine that this is the same way bank robbers think .

And Belgium in most stores. That or the cases are attached to an alarmthing.

I wouldn't steal it, I don't approve of stealing. I don't download illegal software, either. I don't approve of it. If I'm given too much change at a store I tell them and give them back what they deserve. If something doesn't belong to me than I won't claim ownership, simple as that.
Does this make me better than any other being? No, it's just my moral view and it's a part of who I am. Will people claim things that aren't rightfully theirs? Sure, it's a part of human nature I suppose. We have laws to govern these sorts of actions and truthfully they need to be enforced better if they are to be effective. Until then, people will continue what they are doing and others will continue their lack of action. So is life.

Mediamark has the full game in their covers, with plastic and shit around it. It just has an extra plastic case around it with antitheft shit in it.
But as the other, I was indeed raised teaching me stealing is wrong but I'd still do it if I could get away with it lol...

Well I meant on games, CDs are mostly outside on display, games locked in (but displayed) big stores like Warlmart etc. In gamestop its only the cover without the game itself on display, on bestbuy/microcenter the whole games on display (sometimes in the anti-theft extra layer of cover thing)

Seeing as how video games are such a rip-off these days, if I didn't get caught I'd do it.
And it's not because I like stealing, I just really really like free stuff.

Not true.
Now, I'm not pro-pirating, not at all. But I do have to point out to you, that what you said is not entirely true.
If I go to the store and steal a DVD, the shop owner will loose money because I stole the object. Said in another way: He lost one of his versions of the DVD.
If I download it, I COPY the disk. Meaning, there are still the same amount of DVD's out there.
At least that's where I see the difference

But here is the problem. That "copy" is taking away someones profit. Because you copied it means one of those DVD's were not bought. Same as stealing a DVD you just lack the actual DVD from pirating it.
Sure go ahead and say "oh it's not hurting anyone" but in reality it is. Best Buy won't get money, Amazon won't get money, Newegg won't get money, no one will get the money for what you copied. Also don't say "Oh they have plenty of money" what about the family owned companies? The small companies that are local only? You are stealing their profits too.

If I download it I never had the intention of buying it. No potential profits are lost because they never existed.

How can potential profits not exist just because you had no intention of buying it? You still obtained the software through other means then buy it.
"I had no intention of buying this game so I walked into the store and stole it."
"I had no intention of buying this game so I downloaded it."
What's the difference other then you physically took a DVD that the store themselves bought?

Yea most places have all the disks locked up behind the counter... you give them the case of what you want and they give you disk...
also at OP, no.
