Need help with a solution!

Post by satman83 »

Got a bit of a pickle that am sure only the SRF think tank can solve.

I need to find a way to password protect some folders on a computer network that is connected via a server on XP. Anyone who logs in on their individual accounts can not only access their own files but can see and open the folders on the network server to gain the files inside.

I need to basicly have it so only certain users can access certain files on the networked server, i was thinking of even hiding the folders and files in question, but not really to sure about that option.

So the folders have to be password protected and even possible hidden.

Depends on the OS the server

chmod is typically local permissions and such

This is why I use databases :sohappy:

I need more info though

What webserver, os, network tool is being used so I can further assist you

Use active directory? Create some groups on the server, assign group permissions, distribute user accounts accordingly and huzzah!
