Wireless Mouse Users

Post by SM-Count »

How many times has your mouse died on you in game or doing something important? I'm kinda sick of carrying a wire mouse around with my laptop (too many wires to untangle and the ones that have retractable wires are super thin and fragile) and want to get a wireless mouse, but the thing I fear most is having an important presentation, or about to win the game of my life on an assortment of online games I play and having my mouse die.

Just wanted to hear some experiences before I commit to what I imagine is a life-altering decision to use wireless mice.

My mouse takes AA batteries so I always have a set fully charged. Razer sells a wireless mouse you can plug into your PC using USB - that might be a good idea for you?

Yeah, that sounds pretty good, do you have a link or a name? Their website is bombarded with Dragon Age II and Transformers mice.

I've been using wireless mouses for my laptop for 5 years now, and I have never had any issues.
On some mouse software you'll even be able to see the remaining power on the battery. In my cheap Logitech wireless mouse, the mouse will start blinking when there is about one days battery time left.

So yeah, it isn't really a biggie!

i've been using Wireless mouse for like 2 years give or take.. it uses 2 AA, and always got a backup pair. My advice to you, get rechargable Bateries, or buy a mouse with battery charger.. :)

Been using Logitech M305 for a while now and 1 AA battery would last for about 2-3 months on average. It'll let you know a few days ahead when the battery is starting to run low by displaying a red light that starts to flash more as the energy goes lower. The range is decent enough (works at least within 12 feet of my laptop and the sensor is about 1/2 of a penny's size. I got it for $15 from Radioshack - definitely a great bargain.

The installer for the mouse is in the sensor (usb plug) so you can use it anywhere. The mouse is pretty compact so if you got fat hands, that might be a disadvantage.

the tragedy

TBH theres not really a problem, its like worrying about your cell phone dying right when you are stranded on an island or your xbox controller dying right when you have had an epic 71 to 1 kill ratio in black ops ( )
let it gooooo let it gooooOoOooOOOOOO

Just stick with a wired mouse. I wouldn't sacrifice reliability for a little bit of convenience. If not then at least try to find a rugged retractable mouse.

I've got this mouse as well. It was the one I was talking about. It's quite cheap, but very good!

I would definitely recommend buying it.

Use to happen every so often. I found the latency WAY more annoying. Now I go wired for everything.

I've played with wireless mice before, never noticed any latency, a couple of ms at most. Does it get bad when the battery's dying or something?

not really. unless you ignore the flashing red light for a day or two, you shouldn't notice any difference. after that it starts to skip and die on you.

While there may be some input lag, did you not see them saying months for battery life?

Anyways, unless you play a lot of fps, that slight latency you might have, wont make a difference anyways.

When the battery reaches its end of life it doesn't really do so abruptly (which would be convenient). Instead it gradually weakens and for a FPS player that can cause lagged response problems. Most people don't keep tabs on when the battery should be changed they just play until it dies entirely. Also those batteries adds up to more waste in the environment. Thought I'd just toss that in there.

I have Logitech G7. It comes with 2 rechargable batteries and battery life is pretty long. I have never noticed any lag and I have played many FPSs with it.

I picked up a logitech m510 for $20 at best buy tax free, pretty happy with it especially if the 2 year battery life is even within a 20% error margin.

All latency is latency. I use wireless when I am on the move, but home at the rig I have everything wired.

Lol i do better with my wireless mouse then my wired mouse never had an issue with the one i have. The battery that came with the mouse lasted 8 months. If you use recharagble then what's the issue?
