I thought this series was one of the best series i ever seen in my life. Its a sad day to hear that Harry Potter has come to an end. I liked the last movie it showed a lot of action, fighting. This last movie let out all the anticipation of the last seven movies. I hope there will be another series like Harry Potter. All the good series are over. Pirates of the Caribbean, Fast and Furious , and Harry Potter. Transformers is all not done yet I'm not to sure but that's another series that i like.

I will place my rant here. I had VERY high hopes for the last movie seeing as it was the LAST one, but again, it falls short imo. Not saying it is a bad movie, and honestly it started off great. It's just that the ending wasn't as epic as I was hoping for and I shall explain why.

First off, I'll start with my biggest issue. The ending. In the book, the final battle pours into the great hall. You get to see Voldemort dueling the top 3 fighters: McGonagall, Kingsley, and Flitwick or Slughorn I can't remember) You see Bellatrix who is pretty much Voldemort's 2nd in command fighting 3 at once as well: Hermione, Ginny, and Luna. You also get to see the good guys take down the famous bad guys. You have the house-elves, centaurs, etc. joining in. A death curse barely misses Ginny (this is in the movie) and Molly cuts in before Harry can do anything. The fight between Molly and Bellatrix is described to be intense, shaking even the grounds. Molly wants revenge for Fred bad. When Bellatrix dies, Voldemort explodes. Harry rushes in to confront him before he could kill anyone, and when Voldemort dies, the entire Great Hall erupts in cheers. In the movie you miss this epic finale. The battle between Bellatrix and Molly is a short 3 spell match. Voldemort's and Harry's final fight is alone and all over the castle.

When I watched it, I knew it was done wrong. The timing itself was just too bad. Having Neville kill the snake, then Harry immediately killing Voldemort gives too little time for the audience to build up tension again. Neville received wayyy more cheers from the audience then Harry did. Hell after the fight you don't see anyone really happy. People are just kind of milling about.

The last thing that annoys me about the ending was how they decided to have the trio (harry, ron, and hermione) walk along the castle bridge or whatever and harry deciding to snap the elder wand in half. WTF... How can the greatest wand of all time be that easily snapped in half. Ignoring the whole he didn't fix his own wand, I liked the book's ending better. Him entering Dumbledoor's office and getting the standing ovation from all the past Headmasters as well as finalizing the fates of the 3 Deathly Hallows was very satisfying as an end.


My main issue was with how the movie ended. It started off amazing, and I love how they added a few scenes to make things flow and work out better. Like having Griphook die so that the Sword of Gryffindor can return to the hat makes sense. Also I like how they gave Seamus the rep of being a pyrotech from the first movie and have Neville lure the bad guys onto the collapsing bridge was great. Stuff like that I greatly appreciated. The Gringotts scene made for a great 3d section (really was the only good 3d section). The Snape Sequence was done PERFECTLY.

Only problem with the flashback sequences, WHY LILY EVANS NO HAS GREEN EYES. For something that is so significant in the story, I find it kinda stupid that they can't afford green contacts or even computer editing to give his mom the Green Eyes that is mentioned so much in the story, and the movie. "Oh, you have your mother's eyes." Apparently, you don't and no one remembers what your mother's eyes looked like.

Another big irk. The Dumbledoor sequence was GARBAGE. Not only did I almost go blind from the length of the whiteness, but all I get is Dumbledoor going lalala, You fcked harry, btw help comes not to those who ask at Hogwarts, but those that deserve it. P8ce out fcker. WTH. Dumbledoor's character allowed Hollywood the chance to allow him to talk about his love with Grindewald, his mistakes, the deathly hallows, etc. Just like in the book. Dumbledoor's scene help tie everything together. In the end, this part really annoyed me.

Now onto Neville. There were good and bads. The director threw in what readers had guessed. Neville and Luna hook up. They took the time to allow Neville to say he wants to find her to tell her he loves her, but does nothing to expand on that. Even in the end they sit awkwardly and say nothing.

Also, why did they make Neville pull out the sword randomly like that. Granted they decided to have Harry Instead of waiting for the perfect time to kill the snake, he randomly pulls it out and waves it to get knocked out... It makes no sense the latter half of this movie. When he finally manages to kill the snake, why make it Ron and Hermione that need the saving. Why not put Luna there. Would've made things flow better considering the director wanted to add random things and switch the story around anyways.

WTF, no Shrieking shack, instead random glass boathouse? No money to make shitty poor shack?


Lastly, Invisibility Cloak. This thing plays all but no role in the movie. After the gringott's scenes it apparently gets lost. In the book, this thing is utilized sooo much in the end. I feel that this helps show how not the Elder Wand or the Stone, but the cloak is the strongest. Brains over Brawns. But no, Harry never uses it much at all. Just run around like idiots why not. Without the cloak, we lose one of my favorites scene. Harry using Crucio on the Carrows after he spat on McGonagall's face.

In conclusion, I feel that the director tried too hard to make this movie relate-able and feel humanly. We are muggles, this is a wizard world. It should feel different and magical. Not similar.

The original cast was perfect. And I love how the first movie made it so surreal. Everyone actually wore robes all the time, not normal clothing. Small stuff like that helps make you feel like the movie was in a truly magical world.

It was decent enough and I'm glad I got to watch it in 2D. I really cannot stand 3D and I never got the point of it - IMO, it's the death of cinematography (3D is to movies as auto-tune is to music).

Although I would not say that I was completely disappointed by the film, there were moments when I felt that there was a lack of climatic scenes during the final battle. I don't care much for the shrieking shack although I prefer it over a fucking boathouse. The thing that disappointed me the most is the absence of the epic fight scenes that I was really looking forward to. I know it's unfair to compare the book with the movie but it really can't be helped; unlike the text, the movie did not (emotionally) convey a sense of chaos, tragedy, and despair during the battle at Hogwarts. The film did not even bother to show the fight that got Fred killed (the way it was written in the book was one of the best/most tragic moments in the series). Although I did like their portrayal of Tonks and Lupin's death - just as I envisioned it when I read the book a few years ago. (But wtf happened to Colin Creevy and the rest of the dead students?!)

In addition to things that I dislike about the film: the end of the battle at Hogwarts is crap. The atmosphere is the complete opposite of what was written in the book, which I felt made the epilogue (19-years-later) much more welcoming (in the novel).

Then again, I really can't blame the director for this since studios tend to meddle a lot with the storyline to make it more "family friendly" just like when they screwed up His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (the only fiction series of roughly the same genre that reigns over HP on my list).

I KNOW! WTF?!? I was waiting for that scene too! And I didn't feel like they managed to show the significance of the trio finally utilizing at least 1 of the forbidden curses in the film - how Harry simply used the Imperius curse without any hesitation, as if it was something he naturally would've done.

As for the movie, I'm probably one of the few who liked part 1 better (and it's my #1 out of all the 8 films). It was well paced and heavily focused more on the characters. At times, it was slow but I didn't mind it. It started well and ended well.

Have to keep in mind though that it's one movie split into 2. It's hard to judge one over the other.

However I still feel part one did a better job of keeping its story straight. I couldn't enjoy this movie simply because the director kept putting plot points that explained the story as the story progressed as statements from the characters to each other after the fact instead of during the battles (which IMO, these little tidbits added to the tension of each battle).

Example of this is the ending when Harry is explaining why Voldemort wasn't the true master of the Elder Wand, instead of telling Voldemort and causing confusion as well as anger, he just casually told Ron and Herm after the fact in a very anti climactic scene.

I always imaged Harrry/Voldemort being in a showdown surrounded by everyone, and harry confidently telling Voldemort about the wand belonging to him, then Voldemort's spell easily being shot down by Harry's. Also they hardly showed the other wizzies in the battle of hogwarts defending, except the one part with Ron's mom. Atleast they sticked to most of the script unlike in the other movies where they totally make a new plot

i did not enjoy this one. For everyone one thing they got right they got 2 things wrong. I guess i should probably be looking at the movies as an interpretation of the book instead of an adaptation but it was really frustrating...
