I love the dark knight posters.
The first preview of it is suppose to be shown in the previews off Harry potter and the death hallows 2.

No I just don't see why anybody would be excited over a poster that doesn't show anything from the actual movie. That could be made for action movie set in a city and it wouldn't get a second look, but just because it has Batman on it people go crazy.

Do you not see the Batman Symbol made in the Sky? I don't see how that pertains to just any action movie.

No, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about...first of all there is a MASSIVE batman
symbol in the middle of the picture, also you are looking at this picture but you are not seeing
the picture
Its of buildings falling down around the batman symbol, meaning as this is the last film we can
see that in this one Bruce Waynes/Batmans world will fall down around him has he has to deal
with the fallout of the death of Harvey Dent and the emergence of Bane and catwoman

I have to agree with Elements, the poster isn't that amazing.
I think the burning Batman logo from TDK is a lot better than this one.

I saw the Batman symbol but that is not exactly mind blowing. My point was that it doesnt show anything from the movie, I would expect a character to be featured as with most posters, they have something from the movie itself, not just a still image that other than the symbol could be from anything.

Not showing new villains and new characters - this is what makes the movie more interesting I think.

Sometimes, symbols evoke stronger emotions than pictures. But that's beside the point. We've had posters that show the major characters and settings - and not all all of them turned out to be good movies. The same can be said the other way around, we've had some simple posters but amazing movies. The point is, people aren't getting excited based on just the poster. Pardon the cliché but don't judge the book by it's cover.
The Dark Knight was a successful movie - claimed by most as the greatest comic-to-movie adaptation and it has ranked in the top ten highest grossing movies of all time, not to mention it's one of the rare sequels that trumps the original by a mile. The poster carries more than just ink and pixels. The hype is drawn from TDK's success, the cast, the director, and the franchise overall.
And I thought that was obvious in the first place.
