To be honest I don't think this law would last long. The amount of people that would protest.
Unless america just bends over and takes it from behind. Then say good bye to internet freedom.

Good for the music and film industry, I guess?
It's not that big a deal. They can't ever fight everyone down

I guess I sort of fail to understand what this law is doing. Anyone care to explain it a little better?

The Protect IP Act will give total control to the Movie and Music Industry to quash websites they claim are facilitating copyright infringement.
That Means Sites like Demonoid/TPB will be taken down etc. Any site that Infringes their Copyright or facilitates it(willfully Links to other websites that infringe) That will probably lead to things Like Sidereel/Project Free being removed as well.
That's what I get out of it.

As long they are hosted inside US borders hopefully? I haven't read the article but if they are allowed to take down sites that are located outside the U.S they shouldn't be able to do anything.

Oh, I'm not too worried then. Stop pirating shit and people wouldn't be worried either.

People shouldn't been pirating if the shit wasn't so expensive. 16 euro for a CD is way to expensive, atleast for me that is a student and live on 100 euro a month.

there is a rule on the internet:
if its not hacked/cracked and pirated... its not worth having.
file sharing cant be stopped, so i dont know why they are even bothering anymore. sending files peer to peer contributes to a huge part of the internet, not talking about the illegal stuff but in general.
you could just end up making a website where people put there email address down and the cd/dvd/software they want then just send it via msn.... microsoft supports that kinda stuff

it cant be stopped, when they closed napster look what happened? with limewire mininova tpb demonoid MESH etc...
