What would you ask?

So an all knowing being appeared in front of you that knows the secret to mankind's existence. You can only ask one of six possible questions pertaining to human existence. The questions layed out in front of you are

Who: As in who (or what) is responsible for our existence

What: As in what are we exactly. Are we what we think we are?

Where: As in where are we...Just where exactly are we

When: As in when were we made

Why: As in whats the reason

How: As in how was it done

Pick one but explain why you chose that one. Why is it so important for you.

WHO:
Because well, everyone wants to know which religion is right, or if all of them are wrong, and some little donkey created our earth.

Why: As in, why would this all-knowing being only give responses to six meaningless questions that only sound profound due to how crude and primitive our vocabulary is.

Most likely, the being would respond with the same primitive vocabulary so we could understand, which would only leave us where we began– empty-handed and with 5 other meaningless questions that any functioning 4-year old can ask. The fact that you can ask a question does not mean it requires an answer or is deserving of one.

Who, why, when, how and where don't really matter. The most important thing is WHAT?

All those questions are retarded with the exception of HOW and the question itself needs to be reformulated.

edit: WHO and HOW are the same question, except that WHO is worded way stupider.

Even though the question itself is rather silly, as you'dd supposibly be awnserd by an all knowing being.... which would pretty much imply something like a god exists.

I'dd go with 'How'.
As 'How' covers most of the other questions too (even if partly), How were we brought into existence awnsers if there was a 'who' involved. If described detailed enough it'dd also awnser what we are and when we were brought into existence. If there was a who involved that who would have reasoning too, which would partly awnser 'why'.
In my opinion it'dd be stupid to ask 'why' or 'who'. 'Who' would be a wasted question if there is no who. 'Why' would be a wasted question if there is no reason (and if there is no who, there can be no reasoning).

Interesting responses I see here. Calling the questions retarded though is like calling yourselves retarded because indeed if such a situation were to happen we'd be asking those exact questions in one form or another due to our basic and primitive intelect brought on by the limited understanding we have of oursleves.

Even when you realize that a few of the questions can indirectly answer some of the other question we'd still find ourselves asking them anyways because thats just how we are as human. We just have to know.

Is there an option where we can choose to simply ignore the "all knowing being" and walk away?

In all honesty I don't want someone to tell me why I'm here, or how I got here or what the purpose for my existence is. No, I want to discover the answer to these questions myself. I don't want to spend my life being spoon-fed answers about the "fate" of my life or why the hell I should go on each day. I believe my life is an exploration of itself; I'll shape my own sense of meaning and purpose based on what I believe to be just and true. The opinions of some wise old being don't affect me at all. Just because his words may be true and accurate, it doesn't mean they are right for me.

Lol? What jr college did you drop out of broseph? Our "primitive vocabulary" is perfectly capable of communicating those simple Q&A... Oh man you are soooo cool 8) I bet you're gettin all de ladies with your too cool for school attitude :sohappy: (Sorry :sohappy: Just thought your response was a bit douche' so I tried to top it.)

Anyways... The question "Who?" would not really tell you what religion is right or wrong.

Or maybe, and let's go ahead and imply this now, you aren't that bright yourself and could be described as one of those soulless drones, maybe the depth of these questions in your eyes come from your poor education and lack of ability to see the relevance of the questions. When you say we have a limited understanding of ourselves you speak for yourself because understanding of ourselves is not something that every man lacks today: blah blah don't generalize based on how faulty you are and learn to use "I x ".

qft

Only a full fledged discussion would lead to at least an unraveling of the beginning of an answer.

Who: As in who (or what) is responsible for our existence

The evolution of the nature, starting from big bang, and beginning with a very simple living creatures, and we are the latest stable version.

What: As in what are we exactly. Are we what we think we are?

We are creatures made with some instincts, like eating and reproducing, to be a part of natural life cycle, and the weak kind extinct which is called the natural selection, we are just a part of the world our forms change but we will always be there.

Where: As in where are we...Just where exactly are we

In a place that rarely exist and maybe the only one of its kind at this moment, earth have the factors needed for this kind of evolution, around us there's trillions of stars that may have another form of life but it certainly have its own way in evolving

When: As in when were we made

it's not like we weren't here and suddenly a man fell on the earth beside a smexy woman and started reproducing, We are the product of an evolutionary process spanned for millions of years

Why: As in whats the reason

because we are a part of the world evolution, think about the world like a self-building program with some rules and tools, it's getting better with nothing called fault, pollution and diseases happen and they destroy the place that they're in, while the better places still exist, natural selection ftw, we are here and when we die we will still be here, we just don't accept the idea that we can still exist without feelings, memory, brain, but the fact is we do, and you won't get bored when you lay down in the earth decayed for millions of years, because you won't have a brain.

How: As in how was it done

to late for collage, I answered this above.

I have the answers that satisfy my curiosity.

Our language is far too young to describe anything awe-inspiring or grandiose without invoking metaphysical or supernatural terms. Yes, the questions can be answered, but not on a level that would bring anything new to the table, or at least nothing that hasn't already been looked at a million times over. Once our culture evolves beyond the restraints of these ideologies, we will develop a much better understanding of ourselves and our environment.

2/10 for the douchey portion though. Your liberal use of smilies is far from threatening but at least it was comprehensible, so you're a step above heroo, but that's not saying much.
heroo wrote:lol, +1. but don't blame him, he thinks he's on a science forum.

By that logic, you must think you're on a forum for insufferable imbeciles. The '+1' is a nice commodity for you though, because it implies you actually understood the dialogue.

Who. And for the idiots just flaming about how stupid this thread is... Why do you bother posting then? If we were really ever in this situation who would be a big answer to the entire world. In my opinion we should get 6 different people and they each ask a question. Lol ;)

logic is supposed to be logical.

and don't worry, I always follow your dialogues, even though most of them are a cry for attention.

btw, I'd like to know one more thing. Do you act the same way in real life as you do on this forum? So when someone asks you a question in real life, do you always give them a scientific speech?

I imagine you as Sheldon (BigBang Theory) in real life :sohappy:
